I think that we had a power surge that caused the RCA 52" HDTV not to turn on. When I turn the power on, nothings happens. I checked everything on the outside (cord, electrical connections etc)

A power surge zapped my TV, I turned it back on, it tried to bring up the picture but shut off again. A green light keeps blinking.

if a power surge shut down the unit than a circuit, capacitor or fuse is blown and or burnt and you wont smell that most of the time and since it does have power fuse wasnt blown so a circuit -diode-capacitor is fried somewhere problem is common for an electricial damaged tv but to diagnose an electronic tech would need to tear it apart

The power went off today and my coby 40 inch tv would not power up

when the power goes off there is often a power surge as the power comes back on, this can burn components in the tv. sometimes if you are lucky it is only a fuse but they are inside and should be replaced by a technician. always have your major appliances connected to a surge protector or if the power goes off unplug everything until power is on steady to prevent surge damage.

Tv does not turn on after a thunderstorm and several attempts at power returning to the home. The power went on briefly then shut off several times, now the television will not turn on. We had the tv...

Check the main fuse in the power supply, the TV also has small surge protection devices (MOVs) installed after the fuse, any surges the come along and big enough will cause the main AC fuse to blow. When you surge protector, EVERY connections must go through the surge protector, for example, the AC cord of the TV is connected to the surge protector, the cable connection did not go through the surge protection, the surge then can get to the TV through the cables.

We didnt have a surge protector on our tv we purchased from home shopping net. and lihtning came in the line and i guess hit our tv can it be fixed or is it worth fixing price wise i hate to throw it away...

Look at the power supply module, most of them will have a surge protection devices (called MOV, same as used in common surge power strip but cannot handle big surge that power strip can handle) installed to protect minor surge, it should blow the fuse. Once MOV blown, it will more likely stay short circuit, if you put the new fuse in it will blow the fuse right away. You need to see if the MOVs blew up any sign of blown up components.

BIG SCREEN rca d53w19, where are the fuses????

There is one fuse if you look in the rear of the set on the left side follow the power cord as the cord plugs into the Main filter board which has the fuse. Its located right next to the power cord on the right side of that board

Power issue on a Phillips 50PF7320A

it is probably the power supply board, it has fuses on it, it can easily be fixed just take the back panel off and check with a multimeter, if good then the board is bad, the last two i replaced cost 200- 250 dollars

TV will not power on after powering off.

There is no reset button on these new sets, your set has complete power problem since you have no lights no clicks, this might have happen because of lightning or power surge, either one creates a lot of damage,if you are familiar with tv service you can check the main fuse,he should be close to where the power cord comes in,if you find the fuse blown it needs to be replaced with an exact replacement for AMPS rating and VOLTS rating as well as size,if the fuse is blown black we might have more problems ahead in the circuit and it will blow up again as sonn as you plug the tv back in,if it blows again it will need a more involved repair, the problem could be in the primary side of the power supply,if you are not too familiar you should seek the help of a servicer a least for an estimate but if you suspect power surge or lighting damage dont invest any more on this set and get a new one.
