Hi Could someone help me solve a problem I have with this TV it switches on then after a short while goes off, the light goes red and the other two lights start flashing. If I unplug the unit it sometimes will start working for a while before doing it again. If someone can tell me what to look for, or let me know where I can download a schematic diagram for this tv.
I had the same problem and it turned out to be the remote control unit lying in the room which became faulty, sending continious "off" signals to the TV, not the TV itself. I can send you scanned copies of the schematic if you still need it.

Re: JVC tv model AV-F2983 keeps switching off
Schematics are getting increasingly tough to find, even Sams isn't bothering to keep pace anymore since it is difficult to earn money doing service on this stuff.
You might check with them to see if you are one of the lucky ones:
It is likely, but not certain, that the main power supply is failing since this affects the entire set and a decent tech could locate the primary source of the problem pretty quick - that is, if you can find that 'decent tech.'
If the set is working fine until it goes on break, then it is likely a cheap problem to fix.

Hi Assuming thar you can open the tv case and deal with electronic parts, you should first check the main fuse. If it is OK, check the anti-surge resistor (generally 3,3 Ohms/5W). One of these components may be bad. Before replacing the bad one, check for short in MOSFET power switching transistor, fast output rectifier diode (+ or - 90V line voltage). After findind out the culprit replace the bad components a afterwards plug in the tv and test.
My problem is solved!!! I called my neighborhood TV repair shop. The technician suggested I check the Internal Speaker Switch on the back of the TV. And sure enough, I had accidentally move the switch to the OFF position while carrying it from one room to the other. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! my 13 year old JVC is as good as new!!!!!
you can look for the model and brand, look for it on the internet and see if you can have the schematic diagram, you're lucky if u can. Lightning will strike first the tuner side, if there is a red blink, the primary side may be okay in switching type regulator, just replacing the charred part may not solve the problem. look for shorted components on the secondary of the power section.
