You need a post diagnostic pci card to read the component failures on the motherboard(led 2 digit codes). it cost $4.95 upto $35. Laptops can use mini pci post diagnostic card. No boot can be a cpu failure?

You could have a faulty battery. The battery maybe a coin size lithium battery, check the battery voltage with a multi meter, a good battery will read 3.0 volts or slightly higher. The most common battery used in motherboards is a CR2032.

Aspire 3690

This issue is often caused by either an incorrect setting in CMOS Setup or a bad boot device, such as a bad hard drive.
  1. Verify your boot options are properly set in CMOS setup. We recommend having the CD or disc drive as your first boot device and then hard drive as the second boot device.
  2. If your CMOS Setup has an option to boot from the LAN disable this option.
  3. If you have changed any CMOS settings, make sure to save and reboot the computer.
If this does not resolve the issue, try resetting the CMOS values to the default settings, save and exit.
Finally, if none of the above suggestions resolve this error go through the Invalid or Non System Disk error troubleshooting steps, which is related to this error message.

Cant get pass the cmos password

Hi, The solution I can advice you is to reset the cmos to a default by removing the cmos battery or move the jumper to 2&3 pin for a few second and set it back to the original jumper position. But you may need a new hard drive the cmos lock the hard drive and will will dead. You have to find out what is the cmos password to save that hard drive. I hope this information will help you to solve the problem.

Cant get 4600i started. powers up but will not get past intro screen. screen shows F1 to continue and when i press F1 it tells me to press it again to retry reboot, F2 for setup options.

you need to go to cmos or bios setup, set all the date and time and proper boot setting there save and exit, it is a cmos or bios failure that causes these problems try replacing the cmos battery if the message still continues

Save and reboot

BIOS SYSTEM IS CORRUPTED!

Hi i'm Rain.
Ye it sounds like you BIOS is corrupted. If your unable to get to DESKTOP to save anything you may have lost it all . you could replace the harddrive and save the old one to see if you can have the data pulled from it. Reinstall Windows . Windows has the correct bios settings . This will correct your problem . If the time and date will not stay set you may need to replace your CMOS battery.
