I think you need to check the wireless settings of your router.
If you have only one wireless computer then I will suggest you to create a new wireless network and then try to connect to the new wireless network.

Turn on wifi

If you are trying to connect a desktop wirelessly ?
Your desktop may already enjoy a wired broadband Internet connection, but a Wi-Fi connection will afford you greater latitude in Internet use. Wires will not be necessary, so you can establish your PC in any room or area of your home or office and still stay connected to the Internet. Fortunately, you only need a wireless router, broadband modem, and ethernet cable to make this Wi-Fi connection. Disconnect your modem from the wall socket it's plugged into. Connect the ethernet cable to the back of the modem. There is a clearly marked ethernet port here. This port will appear to be an overd telephone jack. Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the ethernet port on the back of the wireless router. This port will look exactly the same as the one on the rear of the modem. Plug the broadband modem back up to the wall socket and wait for it to power on, initialize and detect its new connection to the wireless router. Locate the manual that shipped with your wireless router. Find the URL, or web address, that is contained within the pages of this manual. This special web address is used to set up your router's network and security permissions. Also, be sure to locate the default password provided within the pages of the manual. Enter the URL into your web browser and allow the page to load. When prompted, enter the password that you found within the instruction manual. Begin setting up your new wireless network. You will be asked for an "SSID," which is just a moniker for your new network. This will be the name seen when the network is listed in an available network list. Choose whatever name you like. Select a password for your new network. While encrypting your network is optional, it is highly recommended. Along with the password, choose "WPA" security encryption. "WEP" will also be an option but it is an older security protocol that is technologically inferior to WPA. Click "Apply" to save your changes. Click on the wireless icon on the right-hand side of the bottom toolbar on your PC's desktop. Select your network's SSID from the drop-down list. Enter the password you chose for your network. You will now be connected to WiFi Internet on your PC desktop and free to browse the Web. Hope this helps.

My lenovo keeps on disconnecting for the internet

Troubleshooting your wireless connection via your Lenovo computer is not a task that requires familiarity with wireless networks or a vast level of computer troubleshooting knowledge.

You can repair Lenovo wireless problems ranging from browser setting errors to hardware connection issues and the only item you will need on hand is the owner's manual that was shipped with your router.

You will not require any additional devices or tools and should not have to resort to the expensive aid of a technician.

Launch the web browser you normally operate and check the "Work Offline" settings.

Click on the top toolbar where it says "File" and scroll down to where it says "Work Offline."

Ensure this selection is not checked, otherwise it will impede the operation of your wireless connection.

Click on this option to uncheck it.

Look over the connection made between your modem and wireless router.

Both devices have an Ethernet port on the rear.

It looks like an oversized telephone cord port. If these ports are not occupied by an Ethernet cable, connect one end of the cable to each device.

This connection cannot be loose.

Check your records for the password to your Lenovo wireless setup if you have a secured connection.

(A secured connection is recommended).

If you cannot find your password in your records, you will need to reset it.

Find the manual that shipped with your router and extract two important pieces of information. The first is the special web address the manufacturer provided for you to set up your router's settings; the second is the default password for your router.

Enter the web address from the manual into the web browser and click "Enter."

When prompted, input the default password from the wireless router.

Choose a new password for your wireless connection now that you have access to the settings.

Additionally, ensure the kind of wireless security you are using is "WPA." "WEP" is another available option, but it is an older encryption type and is technically inferior.

Click on the wireless network icon on the right side of the bottom toolbar in Windows on your Lenovo computer.

A list of wireless networks within range of your Lenovo computer will appear.

Click on the name of your wireless network and input your new password when prompted.

Look to the bottom right of your Windows desktop.

You should get a notification stating that you have successfully joined the network.

Hope this helps

Unbranded 7" wireless book can

I have the same problem. The only way I could get it to work is to click on the wifi icon. Select the wireless information tab, select your connection. Right click on it and delete it. Then Add new and reinstall. Right now I have to do this every time I power down or 'Suspend' but it does work.

Netbook is wirelessly connected, but can't browse web sites

Shouldn't have to do much. I bought my daughteran ASUS Eee netbook with XP on it and it immediately connected to my wireless. Shouldn't be anything special to the settings unless you have specified these in your network settings on the router. If everything is set to default on the router, you should be able to connect with ease. I would enable WEP security on the router though.

How upgrade firmwere for my ZONET(ZSR1134)

With an Ethernet cable, connect your computer to the router,
i.e., do not try to upgrade via "wireless".

Download the updated firmware from the manufacturer's web-site.

Access the "built-in" web-server "inside" the router,
and click to find the web-page that allows you to update the firmware.

Click the "Browse" button on that page to find the file on your computer that you downloaded. Click "Update".

Blocked facebook via router

You can't really get round this easily.
But to by-pass the problems you can
1) reset the router to factory defaults... you will need the username and password for this for the router which are (depending on your version)
Username: admin
Password: password
or
Username: admin
Password: admin

Then set yourself up as primary account holder - you will also need the ISPs log in details.

Alternatively, use a web proxy server to connect to facebook. I reccomend SSLUnblock but for others you can find a nice list of proxy servers here.

If this helped you then please help me and vote kindly, thank you.

My laptop can't connect via wireless to my att/dsl 2wire wireless router/modem. it see's it but cant connect

Hi toasoulinh,

First off you need to go to your network connections, and right click on the wireless connection and view status. Then click on the support tab, and then the details tab. This will show you what the IP configuration is. You need to have a gateway (which is your wireless router IP) and a assigned IP address for the laptop, and also a dns IP to resolve who you are. I'm going to guess that one of them are missing, perhaps the DNS? If there is any missing click on the repair button, and see if it corrects the problem. If not, then you have a bigger problem then you bargined for. You will need to go to your network connection and click on wireless connection. Inside you will find a add wireless connection button. Click this button and windows will walk you through creating a new connection. If that doen't to the trick.
You can reconfigure your HomePortal without using the setup CD.
  • Open your Web browser.
  • Type http://homeportal/setup in the address or location line of your browser.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.
    • If you need a key code, you can find it at HERE
    • If you need to replace drivers for your 2Wire network adapters, you can download them directly from the 2Wire support Web site.
Good Luck,

And don't leave a rating

Thanks
Mark

Network key

First, you'll have to connect to your network via a wired (Ethernet) conenction or on a wireless device that is already on your network.

Then you'll have to log into the router via your web browser. Usually the web address is http://192.168.1.1

Click on the wireless tab and then security. You will find your Network Key listed there.

Good Luck

Actiontec GT704-WG wireless connection not working

Hi,
you say it suddenly stopped working, if you can connect to the router via ethernet cable then try to access the router's web utility page and make sure your router is in mixed or G-only. If you can't still connect to the router through wireless then try restarting the Wireless Zero Configuration from windows. This is how it's made: Go to control panel and double-click "administrative tools", then double-click "services". You will see a list, scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and click "stop", you'll see a progress bar. After that click "start", you'll see another progress bar. Now try connecting to your router via wireless connection. If you still can't connect then repair the connection by right-clicking the wireless icon at the bottom right corner. Keep repairing until you connect.
Hope this works!
