1 Answer

Lost connection to internet after 2 days

I configure my router linksys wrt54G v2.2, with the last firmware, it works fine 1 or 2 days, but after that, I lost connection to internet when I connect whith my laptop.

When I use the setup page of the router, in diagnostics, I can make a ping test to internet without problems. but the laptop don`t have internet.

Any suggestions???

Ryd66, thanks for your response. But the wireless service is not only for 1 computer, and I don´t want to enter every mac address to the set up of the router, because the router is like a public access in the office.

    There is another solution???

Ok, Thanks Ryd66 for your quickly response.

I ran into the same problem when i was living in Reno.
I fixed my problem by First, Access Command Prompt, by way of Run Program: CMD
then i inputed the command ipconfig /all
Find the wireless portion in the information that it gives you, what you are looking for is the Mac Address. it should be 12 total Alpha Numeric string, which is seperated every 2 by a dash marker.

Next, access the router through the normal way of browser, In the Wireless section, there is a tab that you select to input the Mac Address into the router, to basically give the router a permission to always give that computer access to the internet. This worked for me. I do hope it works for you. Its what i have always done in the past when i set up wireless Offices

Ok, other than going through every computer and ensuring that when each connects to the wireless, they automatically Use Domain Name and Password, which is difficult at best. I cant really offer much. The mac address way is not the worlds most difficult way, its just the most odd way, because not many use it. I find it easier than everything else because of the fact that its a secuirty extra that ensures little tampering.

It was working fine until ive reset my linksys wrt54g, and i did my setup again, but i dont get any internet connection, my linksys is using a cable to my pc. please help

When you resetted your linksys router, chances are, the setup for WAN connection was lost. You can try these steps:

1. Connect the internet directly to your pc. If your pc was able to browse the internet, move on to the next step. If not, you'll have to contact your ISP for the settings of your internet connectivity.
2. Connect back the internet to the WAN port of the router, and connect your pc to the router's LAN port.
3. Open the router's page in a browser (the address usually is 192.168.1.1, username is admin and password is admin)
4. If your router has a setup wizard, run the setup wizard, because it usually clones your pc's mac address.

Hope this helps.

Internet will not connect, light is blinking on mode. It will work fine foe days and then be out for days.

your Linksys may need a firmware update. Also, can you make sure no appliances are near the Linksys? What happens right after you restart the Linksys? Works fine?

Cant connect to the internet with linksys wrt160nv2

if this is DSL connection then you have to configure your modem before you connect router

follow this
first disabled wireless on your modem/router

.1) Turn off DHCP on your modem/router I am assuming this is verizon westell
2. Configure the first VC port to Bridge-Bridge mode
3. Keep hitting "apply" in the windows until the 7500 reboots
4. Plug the "Internet" port on the linksys to one of the normal ethernet ports on the modem /router
5. Turn on the Netgear and wait for the green Internet light to go solid

good luck if this does not work provide more info on your setup

Configure Modem Echolife HG520s With WRT54G OR WRE54G

Not sure if I understand properly but your router should have a WAN port or an "Internet" port

your modem should be connected to it and your PC should be on any of the LAN port

Linksys router problem

Try a factory reset on the router, in most cases this can be done by holding the reset button on the unit down for 10 or more seconds. Once this is done you may have to enter any settings into the router again.

Also, try download the latest firmware from http://www.linksys.com and upgrade the firmware on the router.
