With volume up and the DVD playing I can barely hear sound information,I got a feeling something is wrong with the software but without a serv.Manual I dont know how to get into the service menu and check.I have checked the earphone, rca jacks, measured B+ to pin 10 of the outputs and it has the 12 volts.Thank you for the suggestions and information.Any more ideas?

Hello techman, thanks to your information I have ordered the serv.manual on line,The unit is stereo and no sound from any of the speakers, when I touched one of the caps in that area I did get a buzz, same with the other output,I continuo to believe is in the wrong mode or something like that but I already have the manual so I have to do some measurements to find the problem, thank you for the suggestions,if you have any more keep them coming.

there is absolutely no volume when playing only a dvd. the volume control works, the remote works, there is volume when playing a vhs or watching tv(our cable) but none whatsoever when watching a dvd. The dvd plays just fine, but it is completely mute, no matter what we attempt to do....?

Sorry I dont have a manual but it is available at http://www.servicemanuals.net If you put your ear close to the speaker, with the volume turned up, do you hear any hiss or buzzing? If you dont it could be a bad speaker, headphone jack(if there is one), or the audio output IC or ascoiatated componets. If there is a hiss, then theres a problem with the audio processor or switching IC. If your not a tech, you should not be experimenenting around inside this TV set!

If you tryed another speaker jumped across the old one? if not try that first. If that does not work, see if there is any input on the audio output IC by touching a screw driver to ONLY the input pin of that IC with you touching the screwdriver with your finger. You should get a loud buzz. If you do not, the IC is most likly bad or a coupling capacitor is open.

RCA Model 27F520T - it has no sound everything else is perfect?

I'm not sure what options are available in your audio menu, but here are some things to check before having a repairman check:
Click on menu screen, then select audio menu.
If there is choice of external or internal speakers, select internal.
If there is a noise cancelling option, deselect this.
If you are using remote to increase volume, try the manual volume button on tv.
Does the volume bar at the bottom of the tv increase as you adjust volume ?
Hope this helps

I Have a 5.3 IR Remote and a vizio VSB200 Sound Bar. The remote will not program to the Sound Bar. The Optical Audio is connected to the TV. What do I need to do.

lojr,

We have code to use with amplifiers, TVs, VCRs, and DVD players. I do not have a code that will work on this sound bar. What is the code you are trying to use? Did Vizio supply a code with your sound bar. They do have codes to use for their TVs to program DISH remotes. Please let me know if you have a code or you can contact Vizio to see if they have a code available.

I have provided the Power Scan instructions on programming the remote to a sound bar. Use the VCR button to attempt to program the sound bar.

If you have further questions, please post it here.

Phillips 19 inch TV/VCR combo --no remote--can't change channels

Hi,
I cannot be sure of the exact model but... Press and hold the TV's volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously. On many older televisions, this opens the device menu without the use of a remote. Otherwise, use the menu button, which you can navigate in a similar fashion.
Also, somewhere should be an input button. Press it multiple times times to switch between various inputs (the input must match whatever input you are using). Usually after these menus are opened you can use vol up vol down to change things.

SONY KP 51WS500 - Volume & Menu won't stay on

This would be weird for a sony but it sounds like the volume down button on the front of the set is stuck...very very uncommon for a sony. Try taking the bottom front cover off the set and unpluging the button assyembly then see if the remote works the set with it unpluged.

THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION .... PLEASE I HAVE A TOSHIBA AND I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON TV REMOTES!!! MY ORIGINAL REMOTE HAS A SWITCH ON THE TOP LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE REMOTE. IT HAS TV, CABLE,VCR, AND AUX. MAKE SURE YOURS IS ON "TV".(IF OURS ARE SIMULAR) IN THE MIDDLE OF MY REMOTE THERE IS A LARGE ROUND BUTTON WITH "ENTER" ON IT. PRESS THAT ONCE AND ALL THE MODES SHOULD APPEAR ON THE SCREEN. USING THE 4 ARROWS AROUND THE "ENTER" BUTTON YOU CAN CURSOR TO THE OPTIONS FROM MODE TO MODE. AND USE THE "ENTER" OR "EXIT" TO SET IT IN THE ADJUSTMENT YOU WANT. MY TOSHIBA IS A PIP "PICTURE IN PICTURE MODEL". MY CABLE REMOTE COMMANDER DOES NOTHING BUT WORK THE TV'S ON-OFF, CHANNEL, AND VOLUME. UNIVERSALS WILL NOT OPERATE THE REST OF TOSHIBAS OPTIONS ... THAT I HAVE FOUND ANYWAY. LIKE I SAID ... I HAVE A TOSHIBA AND HOPE YOUR TOSHIBA REMOTE IS SET UP THE SAME AS MINE OR SIMULAR TO HELP YOU OUT. I WISH YOU LUCK. JUST TRYING TO HELP.

No sound,volume bar works

Sounds like it may be something you did. Have you checked to see if you accidentally put the sound on mute? Try hitting the mute button on the remote control. Also, if the TV has the option to turn of internal speakers (which you would likely find in the menu under audio settings if it does) make sure they are turned on. If these checks fail then we have an electronic problem to deal with.
