Question about Televison & Video
I purchased the LCD TV in 02/2008, started powering off and back on, various color ghosting, alarm noise, clicking noise right after power on. After warm up for 15 to 30 minutes seems to work with some ghosting. After 5 months Magnavox wants $300 to mechanically replace a TV that original cost $399. Purchased from Best Buy and they want me to pay for labor to have Magnavox repair and TV gone for at least two weeks. I do not like either option. Any other suggestions? I am not sure why Best Buy or Magnavox will not standy by the manufacture or sale of the product. BBuy wanted $100 for service policy when the TV was purchased. That really seemed like a good thing to not do at the time. I have the same exact problem you are my 19mf337b is only 9 months old.
I am currently working on this model set and have discovered the same type of problems. Fix: 4 capacitors in the power supply section on the main board were defective (bulging out). Common problem with counterfeit parts that originate in China. See http://www.badcaps.net for details.

The noise you are hearing is the power supply. The safety circuitry in the TV is shutting it down when it detects a problem. This model TV is known for having issues with the power supply. Normally this repair will be in the $250 price range but can depend on what other parts are found to be defective. The only way to know for sure what is causing the problem, which parts that are no longer within factory specs and for proper repair the tv must be diagnosed by someone with the correct electronic test equipment and the skills to use the test equipment. I wish I could tell you there was a quick fix or button to push that would fix the TV but that is not the case or the solution needed to get the TV operating correctly.
