How do I fix? Designjet HP9000 error 1701

System Error 1700: Servo Motor Error

Description:
The Paper-Axis or the Scan-Axis Motor moves the Carriage, but the input from the Linear Encoder Sensor does not change
The easy thing to do is to check the "encoder strip". It's a metal strip about 1/4" high. It runs right to left behind the carriage assembly. Shine a flashlight on it and see if it looks damaged. If its dirty clean it with a slightly damp cloth(water or alcohol will work). Do it with power off. Make sure the carriage moves freely from one end to the other. If the carriage is binding or won't move at all, check the carriage belt for tears or shredding. If you can't SEE anything wrong it probably is the time to call in a trained tech.
The E0800 is a power supply error. You'll need a tech for that too.

The error relates to a carriage movement error detected by the printer. This means the printer has detected too much power is required ti move the print head. Reason : All these Service Requests (Service Requests 00010004 , 00010005, 00010006, 00010007, 0001000A, 0001000F, 0001001D) are related to a Carriage movement error that is not automatically due to a Hardware fault. The reasons can be : - The carriage is lock not completely released. - The carriage lock has been partially pushed in after a paper jam or maintenance (for example). Reminder : The carriage lock must be released after unpacking the printer (see setup instructions) as follow : Points to check : In case such an error appears: - Power off the printer. - Ensure the Carriage lock is released (pulled to the left side) - Pushing down the cutter blade, slide the carriage to the left ? At the same time, please check if there is any foreign materials / dust / paper jam in the carriage path. If so, remove them. - Also, make sure that the carriage encoder (T-Fence) isn?t dirty and is correctly set and centered. Let me know how you get on with this info.

What dose error code 0080 mean ?

Troubleshooting this my tech said it could be three causes

1. slack carriage belt
2. bad motor
3. bad servo board

youll have to get the service manual for the sp540i or whatever version you own to know how to check these since you'll have to open the machine.

You can check the belt with your finger to know if it's tight. mine was

On to the motor - get into service mode and run the motor scan aging - if it gives the error then it's probably your motor. this was the case with mine

if the scan is successful with the motor it's probably your servo board gone bad

before you do all of this you can also open the machine cover and check the motor to see if it looks like it's wearing out. for mine the gear was moving back and was moving into the flange. but i didnt know what to look for

before all these considerations though - do your limit initialize and see if it solves the problem -
when you do the limit initialize you have to follow with linear calib and flushing adjust in the service menu. the flushing adjust will determine how far back the carriage moves while printing so do it right and when you print you shouldnt get the contact with carriage and cap heads.

replacing the motor is easy - if needed just follow the instructions in the service manual and get it done yourself. you'll have to do a few adjustments afterwards but better than having a down printer.

good luck

I have an epson 4880 with an error reading "service req. 0001001d" How can I fix this

Service Request errors in the range 00010004 - 000101D are related to a carriage movement problem. In some instances like paper jams, the carriage locking tab may be partially pushed in, causing the carriage locking mechanism to put a drag on the carriage or lock the carriage completely. This will cause a carriage error. Make sure the carriage locking tab is pulled to the left. Then turn the printer's power off and release the carriage by pushing down on the cutter blade. Slide the carriage to the left and look for any paper that also may be restricting the carriage from moving freely.

00010004 CR Motor encoder check error 00010005 CR Motor out of step 00010006 CR Motor over current 00010007 CR Motor in-position time-out 0001000A CR axis detection error 0001000F CR Motor PWM output faulty 0001001D CR servo parameter error

The T-Fence may also be dirty or out of the carriage encoder. Check to make sure it is clean and in the center of the encoder. Contact Epson for additional assistance.

0001001D Errore nel Epson Pro 4.450

Fortunately, although you appear to have a spanish language machine, the error codes are all the same- you have a problem with the CR (carriage return) motor- it's up inside at the far left and moves the printhead back and forth with a toothe belt- sometimes it's as easy as cleaning the clear plastic strip that the printhead passes over as it travels- the plastic strip is stationary and the printer has a groove around it - although you can't see anything on the strip, the printhead can and sometimes if gets dirty and fouls up the reading- if that isn't it it's time to buy the service manual or get a repairman-

Hi poulin,

Click here to access your printer's manual
http://support.epson.ru/products/manuals/000909/spro798400rg_e.pdf

Page 327 on that manual will contain information on how to troubleshoot service errors. On page 115, it talks about adjusting parameters for better print quality.

Hope you may use the manual to troubleshoot your printing errors on your own.
