SOURCE: My vizio e420vl turned itself

There are at least two power supplies in any set with remote capabilities; one is on any time the set is plugged into AC and is supplying that indicator and the receiving circuit of the remote, otherwise it wouldn't turn on under normal conditions. The second power supply produces the needed service voltages used when the set is in use. This second supply is a common failure in many sets and it is generally traceable to poor design and the use of low-quality components of a certain type. Vizio may have a repair or exchange program through their service center. I would guess the cost will be between $50-$150 and you might remove the back panel of the set and look for a smaller board with larger-than-average parts on it and is related to the AC cord coming in. It should be fairly easy to remove and replace as these are often outsourced and just plugged into the rest of the set with dissimilar plugs making it simple to install and reinstall.

SOURCE: 32" vizio won't turn on

Hello; I am John at J D Electronics in Poland, Maine. I have now repaired 81 of this same model in my shop or PCB mail in's. The set may be dead always or work intermittently. There are 2 versions of this piece of junk, but I have only seen this one. They all have 2 to 7 capacitors that fail on the power supply board that are just above that red chopper transformer. The are labeled C233 and C234 and others. These first 2 are 3300 ufd at 10 volts and 105 C temp rating. You can buy these for about $1 each from Digi-Key Electronics plus $12 shipping. There are some cautions worth mentioning. Make sure the set has been unplugged for a day or more before starting the disassembling. It is VERY important to keep the set face down on a soft surface when doing ANY work on the set. This crappy designed set has a glass faceplate that will fall down if you don't have it face down when all the back screws are removed and it is very hard to put it back into position if it falls. The bottom plastic speaker strip has a million screws to remove both from the bottom edge. Then take out all the screws for the metal back and unplug the speakers. The connector wires to the speakers will not just pull off without you pressing on a side release pin for each of the 4 wire- Stupid design again!. If you are not able to solder or test these caps , you can send the board to me with $46.00 to replace and/or test up to 7 caps this includes USPS Parcel Post return shipping. I accept only cash or USA postal MO. There is NO Warranty on this repair. It is a better than 80% chance this will fix your set. You must call me first at 207 998 5687 EST 9-5 only. Good Luck! John

Vizio xvt373sv how do I operate with no remote? I've turned it on with the side button... Now Vizio is blinking. Please help

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Fault to its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Light is blinking what parts would i need or what is consing it to blink

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy.
If you wish to get some details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Timeslide / Flipcard, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name / model number / IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

On my new Vizio - wifi does not recognize my at&t modem

I have the same problem, but sometimes it works. I have no real solution, but maybe try static IP address, where you pick an IP address that is in the range of IP address on your network (in the router wireless setup)... make sure to include the gateway address, and try the DNS servers....may or may not work, but when it works...it is actually pretty cool.
