Question about Brother IntelliFax-4100e Fax

Fax Problem I already submitted my problem, forgot to add my email address I have a Brother 4100E intellifax Super G3 machine. We replaced the toner and Drum and I still keep getting a message on the screen "change drum soon". What could the problem be? Thanks for your attention to this matter. TStrianese

Once you have changed the drum unit on Brother 4100 you will need to keep the front door open and then press the option button. Your dispay should give show you a drum change option. press 1 to change drum and the machine should show "accepted" after a few seconds. Afterwards, close the door.

There is no reset for the toner. It uses an optical system where light shines through the toner. Shake the cartridge gently left to right to even out the toner and try again.

With door open, press "Options." Screen reads, "Change Drum?" Press 1 for yes. Screen reads "Accepted." Place drum/toner in, close door. Done!

How do I replace the toner in my Brother Intellifax 4100? The new toner cartridge just arrived, but this is the first time we have had to replace it.


Open the front of the machine. Lift and pull the whole unit (drum) out. Once you have it out it's pretty simple to remove the old toner from the drum and install the new one.

1. Open the front cover and then
press Clear.
2. Press 1 to reset.

However, the drum may be defective and causing the noise. Try a different one if you can.

No manual to "Brother Super G3 336kbps IntelliFax-2920"


It is telling you the fuser unit needs replacement. Thats the heater that fuses the toner particles to the paper by heating them. If it cannot reach the correct tempurature the toner comes right off the paper.

So you will need to order a fuser wire kit to fix that error. That can be fairly expensive on a brother. I believe somewhere around $150 and up.

You need to open the front cover of the machine and remove the cartridge (drum and toner) On the top right there is a tab that you need to slide from left to right about 20 times, then bring back to home position

With the front cover still open, you should press Clear ("Replace Drum?" should appear on the display), and then 1 for Yes. Wait for "Accepted" message and close cover.
It may be necessary to remove the drum unit and put it back in, and then, with the cover open, do the a/m procedure.

My intellifax is pirnting all faded on the left side but not the right.


have you tried changing the drum imaging unit? It could either be a toner cartridge problem or the drum unit needing replacement. If it's new toner or new drum and this problem started since changing to the new, you may be able to get a replacement at no charge or a refund.
