Question about Toshiba 50H81 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Flickering horizontal lines

I have this horizontal lines flickering affecting both the upper and lower end of the screen, where reddish lines in the lower end and a bluish hue lines in the upper end. Both of these lines continously flickers, I thoguht it could be convergence problem, and tried to correct it using the remote, usng both the crosshatch method and screen numeral method, am able to all three hues but when you open the screen, the problem remains. anyone, could this be an IC problem, or tube problem. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Danubo49

Re: Flickering horizontal lines

Sounds like a problem in the horizontal deflection circuit.possibly a solder problem. try re-soldering the horizontal transistor, line coils and yoke pins.

Horizontal lines flicker on jvc av-48wp30

Next time you see it select convergence in the menu, there is a way to adjust or at least see if it is out.

This is actually not a real hard set for this repair IF it is your problem.

The board that needs to be removed to get at the parts is not large and does not require a lot of time to get out.

The set uses two of the STK-392-110 chips for this---at for example Suburban Electronics you can get a pair with shipping for under 20 dollars.

In the customer convergence mode what you are looking for is red lines where they do not belong and if red looking to see red will move left/right and up down in a area that looks off.

If the red for example will not move in some direction change both chips.

If you want help I will attach some photos here of exactly what the board in this model looks like and the chips are easy to see.

Confirm first this is your problem.

I can tell you exactly how to get the board out and what you will need for the repair.

There are "kits" for this but they run over 80 dollars and have a number of parts you will never need or use.

If you have a soldering iron and know how to solder the repair should cost you in parts etc under 30 dollars.

Take it from me, I have done a few hundred of this model for this problem. Pretty good investment for a set with few other problems, life on the replacement parts is 5-7 years.

Let me know if want more information or help.

Benq w5000 green horizontal line flickering at bottom of screen

Hi there

This is normally only one of two things : Cable or Mainboard

The W5000 is quite a new Projector and should still be under warranty.

But try changing the cabling first and if the problem still persists , let BenQ replace the Mainboard.

New (12/2007) 1080p Samsung 46" LCD TV. Flickering white horizontal lines on entire left screen. Double picture. What's up?

At this point there is not much you can do.
If this LCD is less then a year old, I would suggest to contact the manufacturers to get it fix under their warranty.
Good Luck.

Blue screen with flickering horizontal lines

Sounds like the 1000uf capacitors on the FMT board need replacing. This is a common symptom with that chassis. There are three 1000uf caps that fail on that PC Board

No Blue. Horizontal Lines.

Not to me, but it also depends on if you could do this yourself or not. And the area you are in sometimes is responsible for the cost being high.

Red Lines

Can you bring up the menu and see the menu over the red lines? Does the menu have red lines over it? I suspect the light engine is bad. Might want someone with experience to tackle that problem.
