Hp p3005x - how to replace formatter board

This is a known issue that cannot be addressed through menus. What you need is a PJL (print job language) file that programs the formatter activate the duplex function. Does your configuration page show the correct serial number and page counts? If not then likely the formatter you purchased was used. If you provide serial number, page count I can provide you with the correct PJL file that will restore your duplex function.

HP LaserJet P2055dn just writes initializing and doesn't go to ready state.and both leads are blink. so what can i do?

Sounds like it either needs the firmware reflashing via hp website, or the formatter PCB is bad, try to download the firmware from HP website 1st, if that doesnt work it will need a new pcb.

I need to swap out the network card in an HP Laserjet P2055dn, and I can't figure out how to remove the side panel.

I believe that the P2055 has an imbedded jetdirect.
You would have to change the formatter.
That could run into some money.
Is it still under warranty? Let HP do it.

Need to reset the page count after changing out the formatter board.

The page counts and serial number on these units cannot be adjusted or overwritten. You are stuck with the zero count if you installed a new formatter, or the page count on the formatter if you installed a used one. Just put a label on the back that says, formatter changed at XXXXX pages.

Keeps dispalying mem test faliure 1/6 replace dim 0?

Somewhat common failure code on the P3005 machines. Unfortunately this means that your formatter board has failed. Your machine MAY be repaired under warranty depending on it's warranty date with HP. Just contact HP and give them your printer model and serial number and have them check the warranty status. Trust me in what I am telling you, HP has had a large number of P3005 formatter board failures. If you want more info just do a google search on "HP P3005 formatter" or "HP P3005 dimm 0" and you will see this is a problem.

Hp laser jet3005n error mem test failure replace dimm 0

This means your formatter board has failed. This is quite common on the P3005. You need to call HP support and give them your serial number. They will tell you if it is under their extended warranty. They have a program to cover these defective boards. Just don't know wether your machine will still be under that repair program. In any case be assured it is the formatter board which is under the right side cover. The one that your network/USB cable plugs into. I repair HP printers and have personally seen this exact situation 4 or 5 times.
If your still unsure just Google search P3005 formatter or P3005 replace dimm 0. You will see lots of people with the same issue.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

LaserJet P3005n Printer: mem test failure replace dim 0...

This means your formatter board is failing or has failed. This is a common problem with a large number of the P3005 series HP printers. Do your research on this. Most of these printers can be repaired at an authorized HP repair center FREE of charge. Do not let them tell you different. If you have a local HP repair center then take it there. If not then call HP and have the serial number from the back of your printer ready.
You can do your own research on this by searching "P3005 formatter"
In case your interested the formatter board is the large board under the cover that is located on the right side of your printer towards the back. It just slides to the rear and comes right off. You will see a metal box that opens and the large circuit board in that box is the formatter.
There is also a lot of info on the net about "baking" the board in your oven to "reseat" some solder connections and fixing these boards. I can tell you I have tried it and it works....for a few weeks or so then it came back. I would certainly determine your warranty repair status before trying this.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya

HP DesignJet 1055cm Plus system error: 04C300 001F0000.

Its either the EIO card, make sure its seated properly, or the hard disk drive has failed in your plotter. Try running the plotter with out the hard disk drive, it is static sensitive, so make sure your grounded before removing it.

I'm wondering where the serial numbers for an HP 4350 are located

Source: => http://crackmonkey.org/pipermail/printers/2005-October/000026.html

Hewlett Packard printers can have their serial numbers reprogrammed in the field, from the front panel of the printer, with very little special knowledge and no special tools. Any electronic page showing its serial number afterward would be divergent from the actual serial number for the machine. It can be changed back again, too - an unlimited number of times.

Yeah, I know - you'll never trust the page count on a used printer again, but there you have it.

This is only true on some of the newer models, and on the larger ones - not the smaller machines like the 1200, but the larger ones like the 5Si, the 4500, etc.

Canon builds the print engines (basic mechanical arrangements of components) for Hewlett Packard, which only really engineers the firmware - which could be used to implement the hidden codes you're investigating. But I would not be surprised if Canon and HP codes look the same and are implemented at a level common to both brands of machine. It is odd to me that you did not publish any pictures of the test prints from the manufacturer which dominates the industry, though...

Since you can alter the serial number (at will) on an HP machine, that could make your decoding task that much easier, if you have access to one. Set to all 1's, all 2's, etc. and compare test prints.

On the other hand, it also makes the entire schema a joke, since I could program my printer to say it is your printer (copy your serial number), print up some phoneybux, and then set it back to innocent_serial and whistle while I watch your office get raided.

The serial number information is soft-coded to allow the formatter board to be replaced if it fails, while still supporting the configuration page's reportage of that printer's vital stats. You can even load the new formatter with the page count from the old formatter, so that the mechanical parts can be maintained on schedule as they wear out.

Now, this is not true of the Formatter Number, which is the serial number of the formatter card itself. If that is the basis of HP's system of Identity, then the workaround would involve a physical removal of the formatter and its (temporary) replacement with another formatter. For someone engaged in producing phoneybux, this is not an economic hardship.
