Question about Gaggia Syncrony Compact Coffee Maker/Espresso Machine

Open Question

Gaggia Synchrony Compact heat exchanger thermostat

How can I test the thermostat. I tested resistance and it is zero at room temperature. If I heat is with a gas burner resistance remains zero until it clicks open and resistance is infinite. When removed from the burner the thermostat switch closes at ~276F (135 C) as measured with a infrared thermometer.

The problem is that the power supply wire to the heat exchanger is overheating and I am trying to isolate the source of the problem for possible repair.

Hi,

I think you have get air in the system, try to find a bellows pump or similary. Fill it with water, open the steam knob and take of the water tank, put the pump in the water inlet and press. When the water begins to flow, close the steam knob and put the water tank back.

Best regards

If it leaks from the steam wand then you need to get a new steam valve assembly. For the heat you will have to open the machine it is possible that the steam boiler is damaged or that the thermostat on there is bad, use an ohmsmeter to check thermostats and element. There are 2 screws in the grinder, 2 behind the water tank and about 2 or 3 in the front behind the door.

Hi
You could have a micro switch in the doser that is going bad and needs to be replaced. They are a special micro switch that is very sensitive and can get stuck with a little coffee dust inside the switch.

Miele t224 is not heating and suspect it's the thermostat. I have tested one with the multi meter and no reading.i understand there are others !can you direct me to it or them please ? So I can test

Make sure the wires are not connected during tests. At room temperature, you should get a reading of zero on the thermostat. When heated, it should read infinity.

You can also test your heating element. Once you have gained access to your dryer's heating element, set your multimeter to the R x 1 resistance scale. Touch each meter probe and to one end of the element. If you receive a reading of infinite resistance, then your heating element is no longer functioning properly and you will have to replace it.

My gas Dryer will ignite but it goes out after a couple of minutes? I changed the coils and the problem is still there, what's going on?

one of the thermostats in the rear of the machine ( located on the heat vent tube and or burner tube, has stuck, or is bad, you can check those by removing the wires attached to them, do them one at a time and mark the wires, ) set your meter for resistance, at the Rx1 setting,, Take each of your meter's probes and touch one to each terminal. You are testing for continuity, and you should receive a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, testing the thermostat should produce a reading of zero.

How do i test thermostat for maytag dryer

The wires leading to the thermostat are connected using metal slip on connectors. Remove the wires by pulling on the connectors, and not the wires themselves. It may be a good idea to use a pair of needle nosed pliers to help you.

Set your multimeter to the R X 1 setting. Take each of your meter's probes and touch one to each terminal. You are testing for continuity, and you should receive a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, testing the thermostat should produce a reading of zero. But if a thermostat is tested when it is heated to its limit, a reading of infinity should be produced. I strongly recommend that you test your thermostat at room temperature.

Electric dryer. We replaced the heating element. Now a soon as you turn it on, the back inside of the drum glows red hot. Could it be the themostat?

HI. The thermostats in this particular case will be the focal point for your troubleshooting. I would recommend to test all that are included in the unit, especially, the high limit thermostat. I believe this will be the culprit. Be sure that the unit is well ventilated, also. clean out the entire ventilating assembly, if needed.
Thermostat testing procedure:

To test the thermostats or fuse, set your multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. You should get a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, the thermostats should have a reading of zero. When the thermostats are heated to their limit temperature, they should switch off and you should get a reading of infinity. The fuse should be tested at room temperature for continuity.

NOTE_ If all temperature monitoring devices test out ok; Replace the main control device.
