I don't know what a toshiba is, but if it has a windows operating system it will adjust the amount automatically. it stands for Random Access Memory and it requires just enough to run your system and programs installed. If it is too low Windows will adjust it automatically, if it's too high it will do the same. the RAM varies accordingly to each computer. If you go messing with that dude, RAM is going to be the least of your worries. Ha Ha.
