I cant connect my xbox live using a cable connection from my xbox to laptop how do i get the connction

That would actually be a "Line" connection. Or "Link". You will have to use a cat5 cord, and connect it to your internet source. (NOTE) just because logic says you can connect a laptop or pc to your Xbox360, simply because they use the same cords, doesn't mean it works that way. You can however use your laptop as a "Media server" in direct connection. This only allows you to transfer music and movies from your laptop to the 360. Not an internet pass through. Sorry.

If you are just trying to share files from your PC to your 360 through Windows Media Center then you have activate the Windows Media Center Mode in your 360 settings and then use the code given and type it into your PC so that your PC shared files can be synced to your 360

if you click the drop down on the info you'll see the step by step instructions.

STEP 1

If you were previously using your Xbox 360 with a Windows XP Media Center Based PC, you will need to remove existing connection. Otherwise skip to step 2.

At the Windows XP Media Center PC

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Media Center, and then click Media Center Extender Manager.
Select your Xbox 360 and click Properties.
Click Remove.
Click Yes to confirm removal.
At the Xbox 360

On the Xbox 360, go to My Xbox and then System Settings, then select Computers.
Select Windows Media Center, and then press the A button.
Select Disconnect.
Press the B button until you return back to the System Settings.

STEP 2 Gather Setup Key from Xbox 360

Press the Media Center Start button on the remote or go to My Xbox, then select Windows Media Center.
Advance through the on-screen instructions to obtain the 8 digit Media Center Setup Key. Write this key down.

STEP 3 Add Extender

At the Windows Vista-based Media Center PC, launch Windows Media Center. Select Start, Windows Media Center.
Select Tasks, Add Extender.
When prompted, provide the 8 digit setup key you received at the Xbox 360.

My xbox 360 cant get a valid ip adress from my router to ad an extender to share media with my pc.And my internet connection is fine.

You dont need an internet connection to add an extender, but also if you are doing the xbox live network test, make sure you turn on INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING otherwise you will not connect, run a pc - xbox , then media connection test, etc, also make sure you have the media centre open on your computer also. Good Luck.

I cant hook up my xbox360 to my computer

You need to have a router in the middle. You cannot hook the computer and the 360 up directly to each other. You plug the 360 into the router and also the PC into the router. Then you run the network tests on teh 360. To get the 360 to play any files (music/movies) on your computer, open Windows Media Player and in options go to teh sharing tab and add to library.

Xbox 3060

There's a good article here from Microsoft on setting this up. Have you tried all these steps?

This article here applies if you have a Media Center PC.

Before we can help much more we need to know what operating system you're running and what version of Windows Media. It would also help to know how your PC and Xbox360 are networked together. Additionally, please provide some details on the steps you're following and where exactly it stops working.
