I too am suffering with the printer not communication with my pc although I can scan. I believe the problems occurred after I started using a wireless adapter for internet connection.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer but this failed to rectify the problem and have now had to delet the Lexmark files as it refused to uninstall again. This, strangely, affected my wireless adapter!

I'm taking the printer back as it's still under guarantee.

I've fixed it. uninstalled anti virus, diabled parental controls, reinstalled printer (after disabling firewall) and dowloaded uptodate anti virus. So far, so good. This was on pc with XP.

Have not got manual for the lexmark interpret s405, so do not understanding controls. Also the printer keeps printing cannot stop it?

You can access the User's Guide from your computer. Just click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > View User's Guide.

If your printer keeps on printing the same document, there might be a lot of print jobs in your queue. You might have sent the same print jobs when you were getting the communication error. Just click on Start > Printers and Faxes > Double click on the Lexmark icon and clear the print jobs in the queue.

If you're frequently experiencing problems communicating with your Lexmark printer, if your printer is connected to your network, make sure that it's getting a good signal from the router. You might also want to update the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

I have a hp officejet 6500 e709 all in one printer, i have been able to communicate without any problems wirelessly until recently. i had an error saying ink was low and had trouble printing, i assumed it...

This is one of the common connectivity issues marring the benefits of having a wireless printer. In this situation your printer will not print when connected wirelessly but would need you to set it up with your system using a USB cable. Try resetting the IP of your system to what is mentioned in the printer and in case there is a router connecting your printer and system then use the IP address of router and put it in your system. This should help you fix this printer issue.

It blinks orange

The information below (could not copy illustrations) is available from:

http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale=en&page=product&productCode=LEXMARK_X4650&segment=SUPPORT&userlocale=EN_UK&frompage=null#1

I did a searcfh for 'blinking orange light' in the Got a Question field.

The Wi-Fi indicator light gives information about the status of the printer.
NOTE: Most wireless communication issues are a result of the following:
  • RF interference or wireless signal quality.
  • System of software firewall applications blocking crucial Lexmark software and ports.
  • The router has been reset. A different or new SSID(network name) and passphrase on the router creates a mismatch to those originally configured on the printer. You will need these router settings to reconfigure the printer using the included Setup Utility or Setup Assistant.
  • The printer has been turned OFF for period.
Use the table below to help determine your printer's current status, and refer to the linked articles for additional assistance.

  • The INA has been configured for infrastructure, but is not linked to an access point
  • There is a security setting mismatch between access point and router.

  • Out of range or interference between printer and access point.
  • Printer unplugged for an extended period of time may cause this to happen.

If you are really unsure what has happened:

  • Make sure the computer is communicating over the network.

  • Reset your wireless router (AP) by turning it OFF and ON or
remove the power supply from the back of the printer and then plug it back in.

  • Follow this link to the Wireless Setup Utility or Wireless Configuraton Utilty to reconfigure the printer.

I have a Canon Pixma MX860. I have it set up to recieve communication via wireless. I has been working great. but all of a suddon when I go to print off my Mac Laptop, it pauses the printer and doesn't...

Cycle the power
If your printer was previously printing via wireless communication but can no longer do so, it may be necessary to cycle the power on the printer and Router / Access Point to restore communication. Before doing this, verify that the computer can communicate with the Router / Access Point.

On the printer, press the On button to power off the printer. Wait about 10 seconds, then press the On button to power the printer back on.

On the Router / Access Point, if there is a power button, press it to turn off the device, then press it again to re-power after waiting for about 10 seconds.* If there is no power button, you may have to disconnect the power cord / AC adapter. Check with the device's user manual.
* Wireless communication of all devices on the wireless network will be lost while you do this.

Can't print from my mac to my canon mp980 wireless printer

Sounds like when you added xp you inadvertently installed new print driver on server.
Try rolling back driver. But may drop xp from printing.

Best solution network printer to router bypass server. Will require hard wire from printer to router. disconnect from server may need network card for printer.

Computer will not communicate with printer

The Router won't affect the printer. Try a repair, go into Start/Settings/Control panel/Add remove programs, find the printer software in the list and if there's an option to repair, go for it. If not...
You may need to update your driver:
