What do you mean by FIND? What are you trying to find?
The expanded form is x(x^2-4)=x^3-4x
The root of the equation x(x+2)(x-2)=0 are x=0, x=2, and x=-2
If you want to graph it, just enter the Y= function editor and type in the expression. Your calculator function MODE must be set to FUNC, not PAR, POL, nor SEQ.
NOTE: If you get an error it is important to report the exact wording of the message. This will reduce the guess work.

HELP!! afther I connected my TI-84 plus to my pc, it keeps saying: waiting... Please install operating system now. than it says ERROR! Press any key to turn unit off. then turn unit back on... I've tried...

You cannot get the calculator to behave as you describe just by connecting it to the computer. You must have done some other manipulations.
Try to find a classmate who has the same calculator (TI84 Plus or TI84 Plus Silver Edition) and effect a transfer of the OS from the classmate's calculator using an IO cable.

601 error message

I am sorry that you are experiencing this error message. It generally indicates that your measured storage capacity in your primary battery is less than 25%. What this means is that your primary battery (601 indicates that it's primary) can only keep a 25% charge. To keep this quite simple for you, please attempt the following.

* Unplug your power cord.

1.) Start up your Laptop and hit the ESC key immediately.
2.) Press F2 to get into Systems Diagnostics.
3.) Select Battery Test. * Now, plug in the power cord.
4.) Start Battery Test.

The battery test will give you a STATUS. If you see the following;

- Calibrate: This means that your battery is functioning correctly but it is in need of calibration. Select the automatic calibration option.

- Weak: From here, please get a new battery to ensure that your getting adequate power supply to your laptop for use.

- Replace: Replace the battery.

- No Battery: If there is, indeed, a battery inserted. Remove it, check for dust/dirt and wipe it clear. Insert the battery and see if it works now.

- Unknown: Try to download all available updates from HP Support Assistant.

When I type a problem into the TI84 it will give me the answer with an Error. Example, I type in 2 2 and get 4E0. This happens with everything I enter into the calculator. How to I fix this?

It sounds like you're in scientific or engineering notation.

Press MODE, use the arrow keys to highlight "NORMAL" on the first line, press ENTER and then 2ND [QUIT].

Zoom function on tI-83 plus

The calculator is not designed to quit on you without giving a fair warning: an error message. There are several Zoom functions, each with its specificities, so saying that the zoom function quit on you does not help a bit.
The safest Zoom you can use without any prior knowledge of the function is the ZoomStd (Zoom standard). It sets Xmin=-10, Xmax=10, Ymin=-10, Ymax=10. That is also what you get if you reset the memory.

You did not explicitly ask a question. Nonetheless I tried to answer with blinders on my eyes. If you still want to understand what you have been doig wrong with the Zoom, post a comment to this thread spelling out what you have been trying to do and the error message you got.

Why do some TI83 program work on a TI84 plus and other don't?

Ti 83 and ti84 really have no difference and operate the same. There was something different or you had varibles used by multiple programs that conflicted w/ the ti84 and it would have done the same on the ti83. If you like to rework it and need help email me at
