LaCie hard drive is not recognized by Windows Vista

I recently upgraded my OS to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then it has not been able to recognise my Lacie Hi Speed USB 2.0 Hard Disk. It says that the Hard Disk is compatible with Vista yet I cannot find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

My drive was formated to Fat32 so that I could use it download video from my Sanyo HD cam. Lacie says that the drive should work as is, but I have the same problem.

I have a WD1001FALS 1tb hard drive that I move around from one computer to another. It is formatted FAT32 (on my MAC). Now, I move it to the VISTA Ultimate PC and it only shows up and "unallocated space".

Can you run a FAT32 partitioned hard drive on Windows Vista? And if so, how??

This is not running and OS, only backed up files.

    Many Thanks.

Well my hard drive is formatted in NTFS as this is how the instruction manual told me to. It's ok...i wasn't liking vista all that much so i rolled back to X. Cheers for the help anyway guys.

Thx for the reply. However, my the solution for me was easy; just plug the drive into another usb port. I guess the initial port I used was picky. My Vista 64 does recognize Fat 32.

I recently updated to windows 7 from vista. im having loads of problems with my intel chipset with integrated graphics...i got the windows 7 drivers for it already and im still having problems idk if its...

You'll need to access the computer manufacturer's support site to find the appropriate 64-bit driver for this chipset. If you post the make/model of computer I can probably assist with that.

Hope that's helpful.

Computer wont stop rebooting. No OS installed yet new harddrive. processor is not over heating. Can't install windows vista. 2x64 dual core am2. Is the problem the processor?

replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to your hard drive
One bad lead will cause your computer to continue in a cycle

hope this helps

Is there any other OS that is compatible with windows 7? All of my software is for my Vista. Is ther anything else I can do to make my OS more compatible?

Programs released before the market release of Windows 7 are most likely XP and Vista compatible only. What I recommend is to check the websites of those programs for available updates or upgrades. Newer versions of software are Windows 7 compatible.

Acer Aspire x3200 vista 64 bit upgraded to windows 7 32 bit. Coprocessor now has a yellow exclamation make. I have tried to update the driver but it cannot find any.

better wa y is to downgrade your OS back to Vista 64bit, the problem with windows 7 is that most of the drivers operational to xp and vista are still not supported by windows 7.

If the system is older, you may be limited by the BIOS. Many old systems do not recognize a partition with Windows.
Have you run fdisk for the format and partition setup?
Did you check the BIOS at startup? Make sure it recognizes the drive in BIOS and sees the partition. Hit F2 on bootup.
If it sees the drive, use a boot disk and run fdisk. Check the parameters and then run the install again.
