Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

I've been holding alt and tapping F10 repeatedly. It says windows is loading but it never does.

The manufacturer is sending out disc but I will lose all documents and my business plan is on there. Anyone have any ideas?

AAcer Aspire One D250 will not boot in any mode? Just restarts back to boot options page each time.

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually delete or the F2 key this will differ depending on which bios you have

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

or

Restart your computer now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding Alt key & keep on tapping F10 key ie: Alt+F10, it will open the recovery console select full factory restore and follow on screen instruction. (Note:this will erase all datas on the computer)

hope it helps

My compaq presario CQ61 crashed. Have tried recovery but everything has failed. I have got as far as installing window files but it now is asking for the installation disc - I have not got one

You tried recover and it failed, and now you are trying to reinstall windows but you don't have system disc. Hmmm, have you tried rebooting and going into safe mode. Just curious, but you've probably wiped out your operating system by now doing the two things that failed.

You're going to need an operating system disc to get you out of this.

I've set up windows 7 on my new acer aspire notebook, but have forgotten the password and am now locked out of the computer; windows 7 is telling me that I cannot re-set the password unless I insert...

Did the sales guy tell you when to press Alt F10? Usually, Acer's recovery system can be activated by pressing and holding both the Alt and F10 keys when the Acer logo appears after you first switch the machine on. It might take a few attempts, as the timing has to be right. Perhaps hold the Alt key and keep pressing F10. If you succeed, you should see a progress bar telling you that the system is loading files. If you miss it, Windows will load as normal and you will need to restart to try again.

The recovery facility will reset the laptop to factory condition, so you can go through the Windows set up from scratch. Perhaps hold off on putting a password on your user account until you are fully set up. You can add one afterwards.

How can i make factory setting for Aspire 5610 without recovery disc and/or with recovery disc

Hi,

You do not have to make factory setting, infact you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+F10 (try both), it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and regards,

Emachines G720 could you please help me restore it back to factory settings

If your computer has a restore partition, it can be accessed by repeatedly tapping alt+F10 right after turning the computer on. Usually with Acer computers (including emachines, gateway, and packard bell) I press alt+F10, alt+F11, F10, and then F11, and keep doing that, until it starts loading the recovery partition.

If that does not work, your computer may not have a restore partition, and you will need recovery discs. Usually you can obtain these from the manufacturer, but they will often charge for this.

Acer extensa 4630z windows complete restore

I wrote to Acer myself about this and this is their reply.

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.
