2005 Mountaineer--Oct. power windows and radio quit working. soon after check engine light came on. brought to dealership. they said it was fuel pump(?0 and fuse. Didn't agree but 1000 dollar

I think the problem is solved. My lighted visor was broken and some of tiny wires were exposed. I think this was causing the fuse to blow. It's been five day since I disconnected the visor, taped the wires, and replaced the fuse and it hasn't blown yet.

I have a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer and the overdrive and the check engine light comes on with the check transmission. What could cause that, what do I do?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

The check engine light alerts you that you have a problem that needs attention and then you connect a code reader scan tool and it gives you numbers. Those number tell the problem and how to fix. They are called DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). Garages will normally read the codes for you for free in the hope of getting the work. Or you can get a cheap code reader yourself.

I have the FIXD scanner which sends the information to an app on my smartphone.

2003 chevy mailbu - 3100 SFI engine

Thats pretty wild. The a/c and power windows are on different circuits.
The only thing I can think of that everything would be connected to is the ignition switch.

2005 mercury mountaineer power window will ot let down, radion will not play and fuel gauge not working. This all went out the same time what is this?

Initially look at the fuses. The windows will have their own fuse and the radio may work on the same fuse as the gauges. The fuses must be in the main fuse box. The position and function of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you don't come right with these, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown ones. A small pair of pliers will ease removal of the fuses.

Radio windows and fuel read out stopped working

Check Fuse 2.3 (20 Amp). See electrical diagram below.

When it goes, it'll take out the audio and "Cluster and Panel Illumination."
(assuming your vehicle doesn't have an OEM Nav system - in which case fuse 2.3 would
supply power to the Nav system).

Fuse 2.3 is located in the CJB (Central Junction Box) - not the BJB (Battery Junction Box),
nor the AJB (Auxiliary Junction Box).

Also, check fuses F1.6 (60 Amp), and fuse F1.62 (30 Amp) in BJB (Battery Junction Box).
Also, check fuse F2.17 (15 Amp) and the "Accessory Delay Relay," both in the CJB (Central
Junction Box).

Here's the electrical diagram for 2005 Mercury Mountaineer Power Windows:
Note how fuses F1.6, F1.62, F2.17, and 'Accessory Delay Relay" will all
disable the power windows.
