Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

My Alpine CDE124SXM keeps losing the satellite signal.

Sirius customer service is no help, they just keep resending the activation signal when I call them. As soon as I turn my car off, the signal is gone again. Took the car to Best Buy. They did a "code reset", but radio is still losing signal. I have moved since I bought the radio and cannot find the receipt, so Best Buy refuses to do anything else with it. The radio has been in my car less than 6 months.

I am in the same boat. I have the same problem as sson as I installed and activated the radio. It seems to be a problem that stated in January. I have talked to two Apline tech people that have confirmed itand are looking into it. I suspended my XM service in the meantime and gave the Alpine people my radio ID and information and they said they will let me know when they have an update. I guess that is about the best you can do now. Or possibly take a chance and buy another sxv100 tuner kit and give it a try, but I'm not willing to spend more money at this time. I will wait it out.. I called siriusxm mutiple times before I had someone interested enough and actually called Alpine to check on what I said. So maybe try that to have it put on record. Ask the Sirius people to check with Alpine tech support becaus Alpine is aware of the problem even if most Sirius customer service people ar not. The more the word gets out the better. They are looking at it but don't know if it is on the Alpine side, Audiovox, or siriusxm side. Good luck.

I hace the exact same problem. My unit worked for 14 months before this happened. Sirius sent a major re-store signal to the unit and it did nothing. Tommarow I take it back to Stereo Advantage for the tech to look at it. I will follow up on what transpires.

I just gave up on it. Sirius keeps sending me e-mails offering me 6 months for $25, but if they can't keep the signal going, what's the point.

I noticed today I had the same problem. As with everyone else, I resent the signal, but once i turn the car off it loses the signal.

Same problem here - every time I turn off the car, and then trun it back on I get a message saying "Subscription Updated" and then I lose access to all of my channels. So I call Sirius, they send a signal to my radio, and it works again, but we start all over the next time I get in the car.

SOURCE: sirius not working after taking to dealership for unrelated problem

How did the dealership resolve the battery draw issue. Did they rewire the Sirius for you. If so they could have wired the unit wrong. If you have a newer vehicle most of the wires in the dash are a very light gauge and most fuctions are controlled by, what's called a Body Control Module. Some of these wires are not a very good place to draw power from not onlt could it damage your Sirius Radio it could damage the electronics in your car as well. I suggest getting it looked at by a professional. Then go from there.

SOURCE: Can't hear anything on my radio

check your settings and see if the line out level is up. If it has one. try plugging in headphones into the line out plug. If the headphones work then your line out cable is bad. there should be some type of volume control on your radio. If you can see the channel name and the description of the song artist and title then you should be getting sound

They make a special antenna that mounts on the the mirror mount for the big rigs. You need a big antenna, as the regular one isn't going to work very well on a big rig. Many full service truck stop stores have the big rig antennas. Try that first. You might have better luck with XM than Sirius too,

Sirius radio problems

I would do the following, hoping one of them works.

1) DISCONNECT the power to the radio and SiriusXM unit to "clear" it. Then reconnect and ask Sirius to resend signat.

2) Ask Sirius to UNSUBCRIBE that radio so it is deactivated. Then, have them reactivate and resend programing signal.

3) Be sure your car is outside under clear sky when Sirius sends the program signal.

4) It is possible the antenna cable to your unit is loose at the connections and/or damaged. A weaker signal may get your stations, but may prevent the additional Navigational signals. Have the antenna checked thoroughly and tested. If car is still under warranty, this should be a covered diagnostic/repair.

5) Finally, be sure the correct Radio Serial Number is being activated. If your radio works, that is one service. But maybe they are putting a wrong number by some chance into the system to fix this one? For example, you have TWO radios in TWO cars. Are they sending the turn on signal to the WRONG radio? Not as farfetched as you might think.

Good luck!

My Sirius radio, factory installed in a 2008 VW R32, won't activate, even after a "soft boot". Sirius mentioned having the dealer do a "hard boot". What is that?

I hope this post finds everyone well who is having difficulties with Sirius Radio's trouble shooting advice to reactivate service. I tried to reactivated my service and had experienced all the problems that everyone has had on these forums. This is what works. It took me a lot of phone calls and I want to get the word out to everyone (regardless of Make, Model or Year of Vehicle)

First, a soft reboot does nothing and there is no such things as 'reseting' the electric system in your car. Second, there is no such thing as a 'hard' reboot to your sirius radio. All a soft reboot will get you is cold legs when you have to hold your car door open for 30 seconds in the middle of winter. All a hard reboot will do is cost you a lot of hard earned money at the dealership. Best case scenario is that your dealer replaces your entire radio and charges you $500+.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: Call Sirius Customer Service and ask for Technical Support. Explain to them you are having difficulty obtaining an activation signal. The technical support technician did the following (and it was the most intelligent thing I heard from Sirius)

1. Go turn on your Sirius Radio and tune to Channel 184.

2. The technician put a "dummy" ESN in on my account, refreshed and then re-entered my original ESN back into my account and then re-sent the activation signal. **NOTE** Make sure you write down your original ESN number before you ask to have them do step #2....there is no way for them to recover your original ESN if they put in the 'dummy' ESN and refresh.

3. Within 10 seconds of putting doing step #2, my Sirius Radio said, "Updating Channels" and worked great.

Takeaway from My Experience: I believe that once you let your Sirius Radio Service relapse and/or do not renew your subscription, a signal/frequency is sent to your radio to block service or reactivate your service. The problem must be an internal issue on Sirius where the only fix to stop this signal is to completely clear (or zero) out your original ESN, enter a dummy ESN, refresh and then re-enter your original ESN and then send the activation signal.

I hope this helps everyone.

Disconnect negative wire from vehicle battery; wait minimum of 1-hour, then reconnect.

Turn on satellite radio, call Sirius tech support to have them resend activation signal. Stay on line with them since it may take them 2 - 3 tries.

My receiver comes on and I get the error message "Acquiring Signal" and everything appears to be connected. Just started doing this. Using the Aux. jack in my Nissan. still need a sirius antenna plugged into the device. If you just started using this you may just need to resend the signal. Just call the sirius/xm people and follow the recorded prompts to send a new satellite signal. Then make sure you are parked somewhere that it is receiving a good signal and wait. It could take up to 30 minutes to reset completely.
