Question about Casio Office Equipment & Supplies

Press the Menu key. Press 1 to select the Run/Mat icon. In main screen, press SHIFT MENU to enter (SetUp). On the 2nd line **Mode:** Select DEC(imal) numeration. **(Do not select the usual COMP mode)**. Press EXIT to return to the main calculator screen. Enter the base-N identifier **(d, h,b, or o)** followed by the number expressed with the correct digits. Press EXIT to return to the screen with the tabs **d tilda o, LOGIC, DISPLAY**. Press F3 for DISPLAY , use F1 (>Dec), or F2>Hex etc. to display the number in the base you want.

This gentleman explains it very well. The trick seems to be to enter the number and then hit the equals sign, and then do the conversion.

Sorry to be the carrier of bad news but the Casio FX-83 GT Plus does not
have a baseN calculation mode. You cannot do any arithmetic in binary,
octal or hexadecimal numeration.

Push the key marked F<-->D, the one between [a b/c] and the [ ( ] keys.

You can't. It can only convert integral numbers to binary base, but not fractions.

If you're already in decimal mode, press SHIFT BIN to switch to binary mode.

To convert a number from decimal to binary, press MODE 4 to switch to BASE-N mode. You'll find yourself in decimal mode. In the FX300Ms manual, the same for the FX350MS, there is no way to use base-n (binary, octal, hexadecimal) calculations.
