KitchenAid Dishwasher (KUDP01FL) - unable to remove two wires from thermal fuse box. Help

Having electrical problem with this dishwasher. acts as if no power. Found a solution here on FixYa instructing me to examine Fuse located in the Control Panel. I have located Control Panel and located white box under flexible white plastic sheild. I have pulled and pulled on the two wires going into what I assume to be the fuse box. They will not budge. What am I missing? They don't even look like plugs. Each wire terminates in a small plastic white oblong box. From that box is metal looks like ending in two prongs, Also the instructions told me to look for continuity of the fuse. What exactly am I looking for??

SOURCE: kitchenaid dishwasher, control panel is not

I don't know your technical ability, but there is a fuse located next to the control board inside the console, this is a good place to start. Kitchen Aid is good about putting tech sheets on the back of the kickplate and it should have wiring and diagnostic info there. Just be sure to put the sheets back so the next service tech to work on it will have them :)

Tip

Wont start or dead dishwasher, no lights, no power, thermal fuse

If you have a dishwasher that is not doing anything, the first thing to check is the incoming power. Make sure the circuit breaker is on and not tripped.

Another place to loose power to the dishwasher is under the sink if it is plugged in to an outlet. It could have come disconnected.

The third place to look is a wall switch. If you have a switch that does not operate a light in the kitchen it may be connected to the dishwasher power source.

If all of these are okay the next place to check is the junction box of the dishwasher. To check here you will want to turn the breaker off first or remove power from the cord before taking panels off. By removing the kick plate or lower panel on the dishwasher you can access the electrical junction box. Many times the wire connectors were not properly installed in this box and over a period of time the connection is lost. This connection should be made by a professional.

If we have power to the dishwasher a common component to fail on many brand such as Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Kenmore, Maytag is the thermal fuse. This device is a two wire heat activated fuse that if tripped will disable the dishwasher. This thermal fuse is attached to the control circuit board that is usually in the console in the upper portion of the door. It can be checked with an ohmmeter just like a regular fuse. When replacing this fuse it may come as a kit with wire connectors, be sure to use all of the parts in the kit. The fuse often will blow due to a loose wire connection on or near the fuse, that is why new connectors are supplied.

A sample image of a typical thermal fuse kit is shown below.

Kitchenaid KUDP01FLSS0 won't start. Checked breaker and still nothing. what next?

Turn off the braker then , I would open the front lower electrical box most times on the right hand side near the floor , you have to remove the small lower cover first, open the small electrical box, you should see a black wire and a white wire and also a green , once you have expose the two wires and they aren't touching anything , turn on the power again , now take a tester set it to voilts , take the two wires from the tester and put one on the black and one on the white and see if you have power there, should be around 120 voilts
Before you pull this apart dose the door handel feel funny ? there are safty switches on the door handel thats why i was asking and this will also make the unit go dead , let me know what you find out

KitchenAid dishwasher 8270219. A repair man said there is a fuse built in the dishwasher. Where is the fuse for the dishwasher? Is there a manual with a diagram so I can just change the fuse myself...

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description and the model being a KitchenAid, there is indeed an internal "fuse" or as Whirlpool refers to it, "thermal fuse" or "bimetal". I'd suggest you likely have a faulty thermal fuse in the control board, but it is not resettable unfortunately. (these are made by Whirlpool)

It's pretty easy to replace or to check, I've attached a link below to change the fuse, but you can also use the link to access the thermal fuse to check it.

With the aid of an ohm meter, (**and the electricity off...safety first**) remove one wire and measure across the two contacts and it should show continuity, otherwise it's open and therefore no good.

The part is available at most brick & mortar part places or on-line at vendors such as "repairclinic.com" or searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple. Part number 8193762...looks like this image and retails for about $15-$20USD based on the model you provided.

KitchenAid Dishwasher (KUDP01FL) - electrical problem

Kill the power to the unit. Pull the control panel down to access the control board located on the right hand side of the panel. There will be 2 wires coming in to a white plastic clip on fuse located on the side of the control board. It will have a plastic pliable shield over it. Pull the 2 wires and check for continuity across this fuse. If no continuity then go to parts house with model number of unit and ask for thermal fuse for your unit. Replace this fuse following the instructions included in the kit and use all the parts included in the kit.

Where is the fuse box on a Kitchenaid dishwasher, KUDP02CR?

There is no fuse box inside the dishwasher. The fuse box or electrical panel for your house is where you shut off the power to the dishwasher.

Kitchen aide dishwasher KUD101IL control panel not working

1. Check plug outlet.
2. Check electrical box underneath the d/w where power cord connected to d/w (you have to take the kick panel off . The box located on right side). Sometime you can find burn wire there.
3. Check the thermal fuse on computer board. It is inside the control panel on right hand side. The fuse has 2 white plastic connector which sticks out, easy to find.

KUDIO1ILBS2 KitchenAid Dishwasher, two years old, not heavy usage: control panel is dead, no other power problems in the apartment, the apartment's electical box shows all breakers ok.

These dishwasher have a thermal fuse near the contol panel protecting the heat sensitive computer. Do you use the Sanitize or Anti-bacteria cycles?? If so then these cycles get very hot and could have made the fuse blow. Kitchenaid also had some loose connection problems at the fuse making the fuse heat up due to the electicity and not actual temperature. The new fuse comes as a kit with connectors already attached to the fuse (dont mess with them) and a junction block to splice the wires.
