Question about Cameras
I have a Sony MPF420-2 floppy drive in a tool in our clean room (fab). The floppy has gone bad and i need to replace it. I can not find the mpf420-2 so i will need to find something compatible and set jumpers to match, except i can't find any documentation to show me what the jumpers are. Do you know where i can find this information?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: REPAIR FLOPPY DRIVE
There are a few different applications that can aid you in doing this. Here is one. http://www.accurite.com/AAD.html Most often than not, the heads will not be realigned properly with such software, and the cost of purchasing the mechanical tools to do it manually and the time and energy it takes outweigh the cost of just buying a new drive. If you are having read/write problems, and an inexpensive head cleaner (http://pc-extras.com/prods/cl35ck.html) does not solve the problem, I would recommend replacement.

How do you know that the HDD has a boot-sector virus? Can you tell us which specific boot-sector virus you're trying to remove? This is the direct link to the .PDF file with the jumper setting information you need: http://www.hitachigst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/techdocs/78090BF330EAFDA687256C4E0077DA0A/$file/T80gn_ig.pdf As you'll see, you need to move the jumper to the A2 position in order to set the drive as Slave, BUT, keep in mind that in order to use the drive through a USB enclosure, you will probably have to set the drive as Master, not Slave. Changing the jumper to the Slave position will DISABLE the onboard IDE controller, which could prevent the system from finding the drive through the USB port (which is what you've already described)... Which program are you scanning the drive with? Are you using an anti-virus program, ScanDisk, or something else? Please provide more details; removing a boot-sector virus can be difficult, so the more information you provide, the better the chance that we can help you resolve this...
