Phillips DVP 1013- controlling without remote

Is it possible to control this product w/o the remote control? Often times there are control buttons on the unit to rewind and FF; however, the Phillips DVP1013 only allows us to play, pause, and stop our movie via the panel/unit buttons. Is anyone aware of alternatives to rewinding and fast-forwarding w/o the remote? Thanks.

    I lost my remote and I can only watch a DVD from start to finish...I can pause for a few minutes...but if I take too long, I have to start at the beginning!!! Frustrating!

    Any news on how to work the player without a remote or to buy another remote for a great price?

SOURCE: My remote control cannot work on rewind, fast forward or comerical skip. The DVD screen display SET 1.

Hello, I had the same problem and after spending a few hours reading and trying things, I found a solution. Its very simple. Power on your unit (manually) and then on your remote control push and hold at the same time"enter" and the number "1" while pointing directly to your unit and this should solve the problem. Good luck.

SOURCE: I turn the unit on and within 5 seconds it shuts

The unit's embedded software is running the system checks before powering up anything that has failed or could be damaged. The microprocessor could be bad too. Check for shorts on the outputs and inspect for burned components.

Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player does not respond to front panel buttons or the remote control

The only possible solution and it is a long shot, unplug unit from wall receptical, now press and hold power for 60 seconds, this will drain any residual voltage and reset the microprocessor in hopes it will work. If this fails I recommend the sony technician.

I can't find the remote for the phillips dvp 5982 Do you know where I can get a replacement or is there another way to control the DVP other than its own remote? Thanks.

Here is the link to order this remote from Phillips: (its long, and Im not sure if it will come across to you as clickable but certainly if not, copy and paste it). I found the link to order this remote by first going to the Phillips website, then in their search box, typed in your model number then clicking on parts search. They also offer many universal remotes on that site which will work with your model so that using the exact model remote is not necessary. Have a great day. http://philipsparts.fox-international.com/PhilipsConsumerModelDetail.aspx?hlt=Link_PartsAcc_Home_Portable_Entertainment&tmplt=ePlatform%20-%20Philips&scy=US&model=DVP5982/37&slg=AEN&mid=Link_PartsAcc_Home_Portable_Entertainment&session=20110222005635_97.64.215.130&ctn=DVP5982/37&ds=DVP5982/37

I bought some DVDs at amazon.com, but I live outside the region code area witch the DVDs are supposed to work. I live in code area 4. I need someone to find a code to region 1. I have a Phillips home...

Hi there,

This player is relatively easy to change to region free. Please complete all of the steps below to unlock your DVD player.

Please note: Unlocking any DVD player may invalidate the warranty. Unlock sequences may not work with some firmware updates and some DVD players have been damaged through failed attempts to unlock them. Unlocking your DVD player is done at your own risk.

Unlock sequence for the Philips DVP 3020:

1. Switch on your TV and DVD player;

2. Make sure the TV is set to the correct input for the DVD player;
3. Remove any disc from the DVD player and close the disc tray;
4. Press the "SETUP" button on the DVD player remote control;
5. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys to highlight "PREFERENCE";
6. Enter 1 3 8 9 3 1 using the numerical keys on the Philips DVD remote control;

A pop-up menu will appear on the TV screen.

7. Use the UP/DOWN arrow key and choose "0" for all regions;

That's it. You should now be able to watch DVDs from all regions on your player. It is also a good idea to switch the player to standby and then switch it back on before trying any discs.

This is a verified unlock sequence for the Philips DVP 3020. If it doesn't work the first time, switch the power off and start again at step 1. If it still doesn't work, it is likely that you have updated your Firmware to a new version and this unlock sequence does not work with your firmware version

If you need further assistance, please reply to me from within this page and let me know which firmware version you have installed in your DVD player.

Regards,
BElectric.

Remote Control for Philips DVP 320 DVD Player.

I guess, the easiest way to go is to get an universal remote control and try codes from the provided list until you run into a working one. Many universal remotes have a mode when you can try to click tens or hundreds time on a button (like UP button) until it accepts the code.
