Question about Computers & Internet
I am tryin to get wifi set up so i can connect to internet on my laptop
First you need to decide what type of broadbandservice you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A wireless 3G network which uses the mobile/cell phone network and can beseparate or combine with your cell phone account
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include amodem/wireless router.
If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service and your laptophas a wireless card then you can also connect to the Internet at WiFi hot spotslike McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access theInternet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to checkthe service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to checkwith the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and thecost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed themonthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installationCD.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Kaspersky Issue
if you have windows XP-- it comes with a security program..is it McAfee??.. or is it the Kaspersky?
if you downloaded Kaspersky you may have an infoclash-- if it is VISTA ,,well , good luck.
Unless you delete McAfee..you will get 2 programs trying to out do the other.
K will fight with Mac and you may end up having a slow starting computer. You do not need 2 working security suites .
either way, both systems should give you the message to accept or deny access to that program you are trying to use. If you deny the program once you may not be able to use it again, unless you uninstall the security and restart.

make sure your wifi is on for both devices, laptop and device. try to temporarily disable windows firewall to see if that is whyat causing the problem.
Since other devices are connecting then it is most likely the PDA that has the problem.
Is your devices set to use 802.11g technology, what possible WI-FI settings do you have in your device.

You'll need a wireless router of some sorts. Manufactures are negligible but stick with you're more well known names: Belkin, DLink, Linksys, and Netgear. Also, if you are planning to go wireless, go with a "Wireless N" type of router as that will provide the strongest signal source for you to use your laptop in and just outside the house.
Don't forget to password protect your wireless signal so no one can leech off of your router. (this should be included in the manual you get)
