Dvd player get a real good one that starts cleaning when you put it in there , because if its not reading dvd's , then it won't read the cheap ones unless your dvd player can still read music cd's here is an example of a lens cleaning disk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F38GcWUoTPM

Won't read the dc

First, Try another DVD to be sure its not just a scratched disk. Make sure the disk is spinning (you will hear and feel it spin up). If its spinning but still wont read you can clean the lens inside the DVD player with a air compressor or can of compressed air. The better solution would be to use a CD designed for cleaning the lens that read the DVD. They are quite cheap and are very nice to have around. If it still will not read then you are much much better off just junking that DVD player and buying another. They do not make replacement parts for DVD players and they are getting very cheap to replace. Good Luck. Thank You

My dvd gaves me a bad disc

when you play nothing but bootlegs in a dvd player, they tend to burn out the eye inside the player to where it will only read bootlegs. the original movies capabilities won't work anymore. hope this is a help to you my friend.

The dvd player will not read the disc

If it won't read any disc you put in, consider getting a new DVD player, the eye is most likely gone bad. If it is only one disc that you can't read i would suggest a Scotch DVD Cleaner kit. Cleans and Repairs discs, helps prevent skipping and mistracking, and repairs minor surface scratches improving disc audio and image quality.

My portable dvd player will not read any dvds

  • I would give it a good cleaning with a disk player cleaning. Those disks have little bristles on them that "sweep" the lens and clean it real well. Remember that if the lens is so dirty that it won't play any DVD you may need to run that cleaner disk a few times to get the lens back to normal working condition.
  • A lens cleaner disk should be ran one time a week to avoid problems with playing disks be it CD or DVD or Computer.
  • Sometimes players go bad so keep in mind this could be the problem as well but I have had the DVD player in my garage get so dirty I had to clean it a few times to get it to work normal.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

My dvd player won't read my dvds. it attempts for about 30-60 seconds and then reads "no disk"

The laser is either dirty, or out of alignment or possibly too weak to read the disc. Try one of the laser cleaning disck with an alignment check I believe that maxell sells these, if you can't find one then a repair technician can adjust or clean i, but if the laser is no good then it will need replaced. Might be better to replace the unit before having a tech work on it or your costs will exceed a new unit.

Not reading and playing dvds

You can try cleaning the DVD lens.
DVD just says loading--
This can be as simple as a dirty DVD lens. CAUTION!! The lens is delicate! I wipe DVD lenses with ONE drop of glasses cleaner on a Q-tip and, starting in the center, wipe in circles to the outside. Do not press down! Do not force the lens side to side. It will move while cleaning but don't put more pressure than needed to move the lens 3/4 way down!
Its a cheap test to see if there is a fingerprint on the lens. (You won't be able to see it - does not take much)
If this does not help, it means it needs a laser or worse. Probably just replace the player.

Will not read DVD it says incorrect disc. I can put it in laptop and it will read the DVD but not the DVD player. It won't read any DVD's.

Clean the dirty optical drive with one of those commerical DVD cleaning kits they sell at the box stores. Also, could be the DVD is region specific. Region 1 is USA meaning the DVDs will only play on Region 1 DVD players. You can buy region free DVD players on e-bay for cheap.

Theres a reason they call these DVD players Broksonic. Because they are always Brok. Spend a few dollars and get a name brand next time, because they last longer since those companies invest more in R&D and quality control.

No matter what DVD we put in, the player stays on "READ"

either the disc you inserted hasn't got a menu. the only thing DVD's do this is because there is no Menu provided in the DVD DISC. In the other case, where it remains "read" the disc might not be clean, scratched, dusty or simply incompatible with your DVD Player. Always clean discs before and after playing them in your DVD Player. Hope this helps, good luck!
