Question about Sony Walkman Sport Series NW-S205F MP3 Player

Open Question

NW-S205f not recognized USB device

Recently, my Sony NW-S205f MP3 Player started acted up weird when I plugged it into the USB to recharge. It would have the charging image, but wouldn't appear as a media device in Sonic Stage. After trying to format it through the MP3 many times, my computer wouldn't even recognize it anymore. It won't even connect when putting it through the USB port.

However, I tried to connect it onto my brother's computer and it connects perfecltly. So what's up with it connecting to my computer? I've tried reinstalling SonicStage too, but it doesn't do anything.
Much help needed- thanks in advance!

Check whether its compatible with Vista. Also if you are trying to use a "cracked' software in Vista, it simply wont respond to any command or recognize the devices its supposed to because Vista does not allow any extra drivers to be added other than those preset in the OS driver database....sodeep

My computer can't recognize it as removable device,

Is there a free drive letter? Typically, USB devices want to be D, E, or F and if you're on a network and your drives start with F and you have additional drives and no free letters that can cause a conflict. Does windows detect the device at all when plugged in? If so, that's a good sign. If not, check in Device Manager for your USB ports and make sure you don't have any with yellow exclamation marks. From My computer, right click and choose Manage to check "disk Management" to see if your player shows up at a low level.
