How do I fix my refridgerator? it will not get cold and the freezer won't freeze.

I bought a new house with an existing refridgerator which is new I don't know where it came from, and even though I adjust the temperature, it will not get cold? How do I get this resolved?

Thank you for providing me with a direction.
I know where the seriel number is, and other data, and
I will go that route. I tried to get the manual, but google sent me here first!

This is a good link that can tell you how to test your thermostat.
    http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance...
Do you hear the compressor kick on at all? The thermostat setting should signal the compressor to kick on when not cold enough and off when too cold.

yes, I can hear the compressor come on, and hear it "cycle" for lack of
a better word. after hearing it kick on, I was checking it for cooling, but got nothing
the door panel has a touch pad labeled "lock"
after selecting the temperature number, in my case 9 is the highest, so I put it up to 9 on both the freezer and the fridge, but got nothing with that either
is the "lock" button for temperature locking?

I downloaded the operation manual and learned that there are 2 temperature dials located in the upper level of the refridgerator. I figured that since the house was empty and being shown, that they turned down the temperature to save some money on the bill while the house was on the market, for 2 years. When I moved in, I thought it was just having to vacuum the back, so it could ventilate. That didn't help. And the big thing is, my fridge does not have those temperature dials located in the upper fridge area. Do I have to remove a panel or something? I looked all over the inside, but cannot locate it , even in the freezer.
I will have to check the model number again, but I have the fridge that matches my maual that I downloaded. Is it possible those dials are in another location?

The manual is great, but I don't have the internal temperature dials?
    Are they located someplace else?

SOURCE: The refridgerator doesn't feel as cold as it used

Check the back wall of the freezer and see if there is frost there . If so is either the defrost control, heater or thermostat. Probably the heater.

My amana bottom freeze refridgerator door in opening a little when the top door is closed. do i need to adjust the screws or is it something with the seal?

raise the front legs so the machine is tilted back a little, this will help the top door close easier, also most likely you have nothing heavy on the door itself, all a fridge does is move air,the evaporator coil gets cold and the evap. fan blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge side and the air keeps circulating, when you shut the top door it's pushing the air down into the freezer and popping the door open, like i said raise the front legs a little and put stuff on the freezer door so it has some wieght to it and it won't pop open.hope this helps salde

I cleaned my freezer and now it won't freeze

When you say "cleaned", did you defrost it? And. if so, could you have damaged the internal lining? Often the coil inside the wall of a chest freezer can fracture if hit or stabbed at during defrosting.
Other than that, is the compressor running (you would hear it)? it may have overheated. If not running, see if it feels hot (siezed) or cold (no power from thermostat). If cold, put it on fast freeze and see if it kicks into life (thermostat faulty) or not (compressor fault, time for a new freezer!)
Let me know how you get on!

Freezer not cold but fridge is cool

quickest and cheapest way is to switch the unit off overnight. possibly missed a proper defrost cycle and evap.coil is blocked. when properly defrosted, switch on and you could be back on line

Whirlpool Freezer doesn't freeze?

insulated or not, garages are generally too cold for new energy efficient frigs to operate. ambient temp needs to be above 60 to work efficiently.
