Question about Maytag MFD2562KES Stainless Steel Side by Side Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator With Ice Box

1 Answer

Cannot reset the filter light on our maytag mfd2562kes

This was a floor model and the control board pads were scratched pretty bad. So I replace both the pads and the board and also have put in a new Evap Fan motor. Everything is ok there. I put in a new water filter and cannot get the order (amber) light or the replace (red) lights to go off. I have pressed the reset pad for over 3 seconds but still no help. Now, when I press the door alarm, the amber order light goes off and when I press the temp pad, the red replace light goes off? i dont want to operate the fridge with the temp or door alarms off so everything is on?

Unplug the fridge from the A/C receptacle for 30 seconds. Then, plug it back in. Sometimes this resets the computer board inside the fridge.

SOURCE: Maytag MF12568AEW (white) Problem

For temporary relief of problem, disconnect power to front panel. The connector is located under the left door hinge cover on top left of refrigerator. Unscrew cover to remove.

Call Maytag, 1-800-688-9900, try to get the automated system to connect you to a real person (try saying "representative"). Explain to rep that you are aware this is a common problem with the HV Control Board - Part number: 1206507. Maytag is aware of this issue and said to me that this is an "improved" part. For me, they shipped the part out Fed Ex and set up a time for a serviceman to come out and fix it - all at no charge. I didn't want the hassle of waiting around for a repairman so I replaced it myself. It's pretty easy. The part came with instructions for programming. Here's the steps to replace if you want to do it yourself. *** I'm not a professional. Do this at your own risk. ***

1. Pull the fridge from the wall and unplug it.
2. Wait 15-20 minutes
3. Remove the screws securing the HV circuit board cover on the left rear side of the fridge. (left as if you were facing the rear of the fridge)
4. Remove the clear plastic cover.
5. Verify that the fridge is unplugged.
6. Remove the 4 wiring harnesses from the circuit board. Using your finger press down on the locking tab while gently pulling the wire harness out.
7. Once all the wires are free, remove the circuit board by pressing back the plastic retaining tabs while gently pulling the board out.
8. Insert the new board oriented the same way as the old. The board will snap into place.
9. Reconnect all 4 wiring harnesses.
10. Replace the clear plastic cover
11. Replace the steel cover and secure with the 4 screws.
12. Program the new circuit board according to the included instructions. Programming requires that you enter a specific number listed on the inside of your fridge into the front panel, this in turn programs the board. Without this step, the fridge will not work. It's the number after CODE on the tag that includes model/serial number
Programming Mode:
1.Press and hold the Door Alarm Keypad.
2.Press and hold Freezer Temperature Down Keypad.
3.Release the Door Alarm Keypad and wait 3 seconds.
4.The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode.
5.Entry is confirmed by pressing the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad - once more.
6.The control will display the current Program CODE.The value should be validated with the Program CODE printed on the unit serial plate.
7.Press the Refrig Temp Up Keypad or Refrig Temp down Keypad to change the digit value with each key press.
8.The decimal point indicates the selected digit. Press the Freezer Temp Up keypad to select the next digit.
9.Once the desired Program CODE is displayed, press and hold the Freezer Temp DOWN keypad until the Program CODE begins flashing indicating it has been saved.

SOURCE: control panel on my fridge

Pull the power cord for 5 minute to reset the control board. if this control panel malfunction still exist after the reset, replace the control circuit board.

This is a typical control fault that should be corrected by pulling power for 5 minutes. if not, this reset will confirm major damaged to the circuit board.

Freezer coils freezing up?

it could be the thermistor that is out of range or a bad mother board. the thermistor is not expensive. if you have a bad mother board it will do the same thing after you replace the thermistor. make sure you replace the th one attached to the evap coil.

My microwave key pad was accidentally cleaned with a microfiber rag, which left tons of tiny scratches. How can these be removed or minimized? It looks terrible and it is a new microwave . . .HELP!

I'd first try something like jeweler's rouge or Flitz or Twinkle brand polish on a soft cotton cloth to smooth it out.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace the control panel frame assembly, which comes with a new keypad and display window.

It's actually a pretty easy do it yourself job.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Next, disconnect the strip as shown in the photo below, then remove the screws that hold your circuit board in the old frame.

Then carefully (since the display is made of glass) move your circuit board to the new frame, and reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

We have Model #FEB 386WECH and after getting

That's the last time you buy that brand.

Usually Frigidaire is rated pretty high. I would say you should check reliability of a model before you buy.

It will get worse, the more digital these appliance's become the more problems there will be.

The old way is easy to fix, you can't fix boards and pads, they get replaced. But with technology growing so fast, they are not keeping parts for long.

You should call the company and see what they say, if your nice, maybe they can offer you a discount on a new one.

Does not make sense that this repair man did not know the pad was bad until after the probe, something seems weird with this.

Refrigerator has a clicking sound and does not run

Replace the motherboard (part # WR55X10942) but be careful to check that the evaporator fan (inside the freezer) turns on when you power up the refrig again. A bad evaporator fan motor can take out the motherboard. If compressor starts with new board but not evap fan, unplug immeadiatelly and replace the evap fan motor to save new board.

Evap. blower motor not running.

You have a bad main control board . Usually on HSS models , when one of the fans don't work , its due to burnt resistors on the board (not the motor) . only way to fix , is replace the board .Patr # WR55X10656
