Open Question

I have a Trane furnace TUC100B948AO, with a White Rodgers ignition control 50E4760. The fan proves and sends 120 volt to the module but does not send120 volts to the ignitor. Any ideas?

When the thermostat calls the draft fan starts, is proven and 120 volts is sent to the ignition module. But it does not send 120 volts to the ignitor.

Something wrong with your thermostat, but if you are using a electronic thermostat and have the indication of supply like light in your control then you can replace the miniature relay that triggers the cool mode of the unit. But no indication of supply try to check the fuse, then if not works you to replace new thermostat.

check the relay
the primary should have a low resistance
there should be a distinct click when 24 volts is applied to the primary
the secondary should be conductive when the primary is energized (contactors can corrode)
not a solution something to check

almost a classic sign of a bad gas valve. pilot is lit so gas is available. FAN COMES ON AND 24 VOLTS TO gas valve so there is a call for heat . gas valve doesn't open so it looks like its bad.

SOURCE: Furnace blows cold air, ignitor won't glow.

ok this is going to sound funny but it seems as though the polarity is reversed going into your furnance. to correct this proiblem you first need to unplug the unit and where the cord goes into the furnance at that connection disconnect the two wires. Once theses are disconnected switch the wires .All you are doing is reversing the way the electricity flows into the circut board. I would wager that is the problem

Hi,

Using a voltage meter check and see if you have 120 volts at the motor... if so then the motor is bad....

If there is no voltage to the motor then the board is bad....

Replace the motor or board as needed...

I replaced my fan control board because blower would not work but now heat is not coming on


Double check your wiring on the new board, you may need to jump your thermostat line to the "R" terminal on the ignition controller. There are two sides on the ignition controller. One is for line voltage (115-120) and the other is for low voltage (24). Be sure of these connections and it should be good to go.

Gibson Furnace, Model #7106250 can not get a flame going. The furnace runs fine but is pumping out cold air without a flame. Any ideas?

The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? 80% ducane furnace makes several attempts to ignite then shuts down. glow stick lights but no ignition to main burners. any ideas?

My furnace will not shut off on auto. the fan will not run when switched to on. what should I check?


Some new furnaces have a feature that when it has an issue, it starts the room air blower until you reset the thermostat or kill power to the furnace. Not knowing what you have for a system I can offer you only how a furnace works and what you could look for "generically".

The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch.
