The manual, which can be downloaded here:
http://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDMwMDAwMjQwOTA0&cmp=ABR&lang=EN doesn't give a maximum size but does list 8Gb as acceptable.
8Gb should be more than sufficient for this camera, however, as it is rated for approximately 3-40 thousand pictures depending on your settings.
Please leave feedback if this was helpful, or comment with further questions if I can be of assistance. Thank you.

While it unfortunately does not mention the maximum, it does specifically reference the number of pictures it can hold on an 8GB card, so you should be good.

SOURCE: What is the maximum SD

Recommended by factory is up to 512 MB, that will work for sure.

It should support up to 2GB card, supporting cards thet have SHDC technology.

Before buying a 2 GB card, I would go to the shop and test it on the camera, so that you are sure it works.

SOURCE: maximum memory size of sd-card for canon ixus 40 ????

Check to see if your 16GB card is an SDHC card. If it is, your camera is not compatible with SDHC. (The SDHC protocol was developed after the SD300 came out in 2004).

Memory card maximum size

Your camera only can use SD cards. The SDHC is a newer generation of SD cards, that need a different protocol you access the files. The newest version is the SDXC version.
SD cards never exceed 4 Gbyte. The SDHC never are bigger than 32 GD and the SDXC are over 32 GByte.
When you try to buy a SD card, the biggest you will find will be 2 GByte. I own 2 SD cards that have 4 GByte, but even I can't find them on the net any more.
The cards are from Platinum. But I even can't guaranty you the 4Gbyte will work in your camera.

Some firms used to bring out new firmware, as soon as the SDHC cards came out. I succeeded to update my TomTom to SDHC and the old thing now even accepts 16 GByte cards. But Canon did not offer an upgrade for the V550, so you stay stuck to the normal SD cards.

What is the maximum size of micro sd the mp828can support?

microSD cards range up to 2GB in size, and any of them should work in the MP828. Larger cards are actually microSDHC. While they'll fit into the slot they're electronically incompatible.

Hi I inserted a new 8GB sd and the camera keeps trying to re-format. GZ-MC 200

There are no 8GB SD cards. A card that size is actually an SDHC card. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different. Many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Unless your manual specifically says that your camera can use an SDHC card, then it won't be able to. The maximum size of an SD card is 2GB. If you need more space, just carry a couple of cards and swap them, like people used to do when they filled up a film.

Will the canon ixus 30 use a 8GB SDHC memory card, as it shows card locked in display

Your camera will accept a maximum SD card capacity of 2GB. It simply isn't capable of handling anything of a larger capacity and in particular is incompatible with the more technically advanced SDHC cards.

Your fix is to either replace your camera with a later model or to stick to using SD cards with a maximum 2GB capacity.

Why can't I get pictures off of an 8gb but I can off of a 2gb chip?

Some cameras cant manage/format large size memory cards as they where not made to handle that size. Check your user manual which should tell you the maximum size memory card your camera will take.

What is the maximum sd carddo i need to use?can i use 8 gig to my cannon power shot A590 IS

SDHC cards go up to 32GB, which puts the upper limit on the size of cards you can use on the A590. There shouldn't be any problem with a properly-functioning 8GB card.
