Question about Husqvarna Ariens 46 In Deck 20 HP Kohler Engine Hydrostatic Tractor includes "Free B

1 Answer

The magnum 20 engine has had the fuel pump cam slide down so the fuel pump no longer works.

Does a person have to pull the head on that side to get the cam back into place? anything special a person should know before doing such a thing?

The fuel pump works up stroke of piston, building pessure to force fuel to carb. Check your lines going to it. So they are clear.

1988 wellcraft with 350 magnum alpha engine it starts easy but then cuts off ??

Since it starts, look to the fuel side. Pull the dipstick first, smell for fuel. Smell it, replace the fuel pump if it is on the side of the block. Electric fuel pump, check pressure first. about 11 PSI. Good, go to the carburetor. Being an 88 and a boat. I don't think you have throttle body injection in it. Tap the carb where the fuel goes in (Hammer works just fine). This may release the float. I fit starts and runs. You have two options, Pull the carb and rebuild it or replace the carb. Hitting knocks the float loose, it will stick again.

1992 isuzu pickup,2.6 engine , surges up and down after 10 minutes then shuts off

1992, PICKUP, in USA? what country , ? cars are not same all over earth. sorry.
engine surges, then stalls. correct.>?

nice testing , rare here, real nice !!!!
spark good as it stalls
so if engine is ok, compression, (seems cat is not melted with 20 " HG)
is flooding or starving for fuel,.
one or the other, you can find that out.
if spark timing was ok, then the belt did not slip. on cam)
leaving only fuel issues.
so DO the magic , WOT, cranking trick this trick (logic in ECU)
cuts the injectors dead, cranked, to unflood all engine with EFI.
do that?
check spark tips, for 3 to 4 hours dead.? be next
2.6L (is 4 cylinder.) is cam belt drive, i never fail to check it first
the fail, at 60k miles, all do. all rubber band engines do.,

if all this is ok, not flooding
one can start engine with test fuel, and even keep it running
even with (hint) fuel pump relay pulled.
if that works, the fueling is wrong.
injectors leaking,? ?
if only one spark tip is wet , soaking in fuel, Injector issues.

when it stalled pull all 4 plugs and look at the tips.
(if cam is timed right) be super super first thing, on this 4 banger.

Fuel pump not working

First check where your fuel pump relay is then check it or have it checked to make sure it works proper. Then check all fuses in the auto to make sure all are good. If after all this checks ou and still no fuel pump sound from the tank if you stick you head close to the tank the pump can be heard. If you do hear a pump running this could be a sign your fuel filter needs changed it is clogged up. if no sound pull the fuel pump and supply 12V power to it on the ground away from the car and gas tank and after it has properly drained of fuel and dried. If this pump works on the ground you may look at your cam sensor. If while you are cranking your car and you see the rpm gauge move this means the cam sensor is reading if you see no movement at all change the cam sensor. Often when the cam sensor goes you may as well change the crank sensor as well to prevent repeating the down time of your car later on down the road.

1993 Buick Regal 3.1 - just purchased for my son and it's been running fine for about 2 weeks. One day he was driving and it stalled and would not re-start. Changed the fuel filter, pump is working fine. ...

Do you have a check engine light on? If yes; try to get the code, have someone loan you a scan tool to access the codes. If you do not have a check engine light on it is not a ecm control issue, ie. (cam or crank sensors etc). Suspect the fuel pump. If you are certain it is working ok. Next is to check the coil pack and Ignition module. Look for spark at the plugs. Pull a plug wire and look / listen for spark to jump out the end to bear metal as you spin the engine trying to start it.

NO! Check the boot between the carb and engine. Very common problem for aged rubber is non-visual cracks. Pull it off and check the boot by kneeding it and looking at it under a light.

If no check engine light is on, I would try to replace the coil pack first. Usually on these cars a drop in fuel pressure associated with a bad fuel pump should throw a code.

How do I know if the fuel pump is no longer working on my 2005 dodge magnum

u check the fuel pressure, u can also hear the pump (humming noise) when the key is cycled on and off, The fuel pressure test port is on the top of the engine in the fuel supply rail to the injectors, you will need a special test gage to test it.

Dropped gumball-sized nut down driver-side intake hole.

As far as the fuel pump goes, rotate the engine by hand. You should be able to do this with a 15/16 socket on the alternator pulley. It will pop up and rotate untill the pump comes up about a half inch, this will make the cam lobe come up to the point where YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DROP ANYTHING ELSE IN THE ENGINE. :) when you go back together put the pump back in, being carefull to keep the tappet in the pump, then rotate the engine untill the pump sits flush. With the intake problem there may be a screen in the intake just for this reason, some had this and some didn't and I'm not sure when they started putting them in. If not you need to pull the valve cover, luckely you did this on the drivers side and not the passanger.
