If it is still under warranty, Target should be able to repair or replace it.  Their customer service number should be able to help you out.

How to change defective motor of portable DVD Player

jdvillanueva.jpg
This portable dvd player always says "no disc" everytime the disc's load.
I've checked it and found the faulty parts. The spindle motor that spin the disc.

Here's the step diagnosing the faulty motor.

1. Open the bottom cover of the portable dvd where the lens assembly is located together with the motor.

jdvillanueva_0.jpg

2.Pull-out the disc holder of the motor using the flat screw driver, you will see the small screw securing the motor from the assembly.

jdvillanueva_1.jpg

jdvillanueva_2.jpg
3. Unsrew the motor from the assembly.
4. Using the multitester set it at ohmmeter (X1) then test the motor.
Good Motor - reads fairly high resistance and it will spin.
Bad Motor - reads low resistance and it will not spin.
This test is also applicable at any DVD player.
5. After you confirmed that the motor was faulty then replace it with the new one and your unit will get back to normal again.
Upon installing the new motor, you have to consider the clearance of the spindle motor disc holder. Improper clearance will affect the reading of the optical lens. (check the clearance from the original motor)

jdvillanueva_3.jpg
Aside from the motor the most common problem also with no disc error is the FF:

Dirty Lens - this is prone to dust and any fine foreign objects that will block the optical lens from reading, gentle clean it with a soft cotton buds.

Lens ribbon - check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the lead/contact with pencil eraser.

Hint : Almost 50% of my related dvd problem I've encountered with no disc error are caused by defective motor/ribbon, lens covered with dust. So you have an idea, try it to save some money sending your unit at the repair shop.
Good Luck.

Hope my tips may help you.

Blaupunkt DVD-MER

This problem means that the system doesn't recognize the presence of the disk.this could be because the the optical lens is dusty or worn out.you can manually clean the lens by opening the top cover then use a cotton buds moistened with an alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and gently wipe it on the lens.
The second that causes same kind of problem is a defective spindle motor. This motor is the one holding and spinning the disk.replacing this motor could solve the problem .If you are handy with electronics you can replace it by youreself or you can ask the help of your of an professional...

Power goes on. When I press play the DVD makes a lot of noise. Sounds like it's spinning. My grandchild stood on it! Screen lights up - says Welcome- says no card - says disc not ready etc.

Good day!!!!

That problem you encounter now is the one of the most common problem of all DVD players because of the dusty optical CD lens inside..

The easiest way to fix that is to use optical CD lens cleaner that is usually available locally on all DVD/CD disc store nearest you just ask for CD cleaner..Use the lens cleaner like an ordinary CD but you should apply the liquid cleaner that package to it..apply small amount before use or you can read the instruction on how to use it at the back of the cover..

2_2_2012_1_15_01_am.jpg

But there some case that the CD cleaner is not enough to fix that problem because of too much dust inside so you need to open the cover then find the optical lens after that you need to wipe the lens using cotton buds or microfiber cloth don't use ordinary cloth..

This is the sample of optical lens:
2_2_2012_1_25_54_am.jpg
Follow this procedure:
1. Remove the outer casing of the DVD player. Remove the screws that mount the top casing onto the bottom of the DVD player and slide the top casing off. This will expose the DVD deck, which houses the laser pickup lens.
  • 2. Power ON your DVD while the cover is open then press the eject button..It should be in eject position to see and clean the optical cd lens properly..
  • 3. Find the lens. The lens will be glass and under the DVD clamp. The lens will probably have a blue tint to it. If you are having trouble finding the lens, you could shine a light on the components and watch for the reflection.
  • 4. Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the lens. Just a quick scrub will do. Dry the laser pickup lens with the other end of the swab.
  • 5. Give the lens a few seconds to dry and replace the covering of the DVD player. Test the efficiency of the player. If necessary, repeat the process.

  • Hope it helps..If it is helpful please don't forget to rate my answer..

    Thank you very much,

    Hi,

If this the first time happen to your player the CD may stuck inside and it is not in proper position. You need dessemble top cover of player to get your CD out and has it retry. If problem persist , clean your lens using lens cleaner and examine your load/unloading motor and its linkage.

Dvd player tell me disk error

this could be aproblem with the lens which is unable to read the disk. this could be caused by accumulation of dirt on the disk sensor. open up the cover of the dvd player to access the lense and clean gently with a lense cleaner(a liquid purposely meant for cleaning the lense) apply this liquid on a soft piece of cloth and clean. close back the cover and power the dvd player it should now be able to load the disk

Barely able to recognize any dvds, " no disc" message?!?!?!

    Hi apkenn,
If you have necessary tools and test instruments, know safety precaution in basic troubleshooting try the steps below to solve your problem.
Assuming that the disc is good.
1.Clean the lens. - Sometimes because of dust and any fine foreign objects the lens can't read any disc. If you have a DVD Lens cleaner, play it to the unit. If this is not available you may manually clean the optical lens. Open the cover and gently clean the eye of the lens by smooth, clean, soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this, just a gentle stroke only.
2.Check the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser. If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.
3.Check the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin. Bad motor- reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.

Hint : Most of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.
If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.
If the above steps didn't cure the problem, high chance that your optical lens was faulty.

If you can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the symptom.

Also, check if your unit is under warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Don't attempt to open the cover(it will void the warranty).

    Hope I helped you.
    Have a nice day!

My DVD player says HO7 and then stops

    Hi,
H07 is an error code which is caused by fault in the lens assembly. Open the cover of your unit and then load the disc, observe if the disc will spin, If not high chance that your spindle motor is faulty.
To confirm check it with an ohmmeter (X1) even attached to the lens assembly. Good motor will spin while testing and bad motor will not spin. Unload the disc while performing this.
If the motor is OK, replaced the Lens and ribbon connected. You can also replaced the entire lens assembly for your convenient.
    Hope it may help you.
Give a thumb if you find it useful.
