SOURCE: how to thread the bobbin on a singer simple sewing machine

Drop-in bobbin: Note: thread must change direction when entering bobbin shuttle notch. Usually bobbin will turn counter-clockwise when threaded properly.

1. hold bobbin so that the tail of thread is facing to left.
2. drop bobbin into bobbin shuttle.
3. pull thread toward you.
4. guide thread into notch and pull to left so that slot engages thread.
5. pull thread diagonally across shuttle toward back of machine.
6. draw bobbin thread up through needle plate with threaded needle.

How to thread a bobbin on singer 4411 sewing machine

If you've threaded the bobbin per instructions... then make sure your needle isn't damaged, bent, or dull. Also make sure the needle is seated fully and correctly oriented into the needle bar.

I have loaded my Singer 626 sewing machine bobbin properly, and when I try to bring the lower thread up by turning the wheel, nothing comes up. I do hold the upper thread taunt, so it can 'grab

Make sure your needle is correct for the machine and make sure it is fully inserted and undamaged.

you just hold onto the thread... you don't need to hold it taut.

I have borrowed my Mother's Singer Machine # 1022 to finish a project. I have never used this model before. The bobbin threads are way to loose, which dial adjusts the bobbin tension? Also, what is the...

First check if the top thread tension is too tight. Make sure that there are no burs or other damage on the needle. Next check for lint or bits of thread between the bobbin case sections. Remove the bobbin and run a small screw driver or needle between the two silver plates on the top of the bobbin case.

Check if the machine is sewing properly before trying this next step. Find the right hand screw on the side of the black bobbin case. Make sure that this set screw is tight. Turn it clockwise. Next find the left hand screw on the bobbin case. Turn the screw 1/8 turn clockwise to tighten. Test the thread tension. If the bottom thread is still loose, turn this screw another 1/8 of a turn. Test the tension again. Do not over-tighten the screw. This can damage the bobbin case. Some sewing machine parts stores do have a replacement bobbin case available. One source is http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/singer-1022-sewing-machine-parts.aspx .

The dial with 0 F 1 2 3 4 controls the stitch length. Use the 0-1 position for zig zag Satin stitch (At 0, these stitches are very close together). Position 4 will give a longer stitch for basting. See page 4 of the manual (page 8 of the PDF) listed below. In the center of this dial is the reverse button.

Most Singer manuals are available here: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual for the 1022 is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/62d051dd5c881663ac19c0a587e679184d936b18.pdf .

I hope this helps.

FEW STITCHES DROP IN BOBBIN

Dropped stitches troubleshooting:
1>change to a new proper needle (proper needle means quilting needles for free motion, stretch needle for knits, leather needle for leather, microtex needle for micro fabrics.....etc.) of proper size. Most sewers never need a needle smaller then an 80/12 when sewing. Smaller needles bend more easily causing more problems.
2>If a new needle doesn’t fix the problem, remove parts from bobbin case area (as best as easily allowable) and clean out all the lint thoroughly, and oil with 2-3 drops of oil where friction occurs (turn hand wheel and look for rubbing)
3>If still skipping, try a different spool of thread (Yes, thread can caused skipped stitches, not common but I see it).
4>If you haven’t solved it yet, sounds like you could need to make a lower level adjustment like hook timing.
Hook Timing:
To time the machine, you want the tip of the hook to pass just over the top of the eye of the needle when the needle is in the left most or right most position depending on which side the eye of the needle will be higher

Singer Simple.....not really!

You really should go on the Singer website and look up support and frequently asked questions. If, you cannot find your manual they have it there to download for free. I really think that you are not threading the machine right, check it with the presser foot up and the thread should feed freely, then lower the presser foot and it should not feed at all or very little. Most of the bunching of thread underneath is the fault of the top thread not the bobbin. Make sure you turn the handwheel towards you never away from you. Also, check your needle, inserted flat side away from you and, if it were me, I would use a new needle before I sewed again, This machine comes with a dvd, try watching it.
