Dell XPS 15z grinding noise

I just got my Dell XPS 15z and notice that the fan comes on about every minute and a half, which isn't a problem, but when the fan slows to a stop, there's a soft grinding-type noise as the fan comes to a stop. Do I need to call Dell Customer Service about this? Or is this normal for this model, and does it indicate an upcoming problem?

I have the same problem. I called support and they had a tech come by to replace the fan. It went away for a while, but then came back. =(

Straighten a paper clip and insert it into a tiny hole below the CD drive tray. Push the paper clip gently into this hole and the CD tray will pop out slightly. Pull the tray out to the fully opened position so you can remove the disc.

Please do a full scan of antivirus and anti malware, if you don't have one you can get free from the internet like Avira and AVG free version. It would also help to make sure all your drivers are updated. You can try using RadarSync software to view all drivers that can be updated from your computer.

is your ice maker hooked up?if no water is going to the ice maker and the arm is down it will buzz.also check the fans one in the freezer and one in the rear for the compressor and condenser, maybe a piece of paper is hitting the fan blade when the fan starts or it could be vibration in the frame, ytou can remove the bottom kickplate and you say every half hour or so it makes the sound and listen to see if you can pinpoint the noise, when you open the freezer door the evap fan will run,you can check that fan motor like that.you have to do a little detective work to find the noise but if the ice maker isn't hooked up to the water source and the arm is down it will buzz.good luck.

It's making an extremely loud noise it may be the fan but i'm not sure :)

Hi,

Good day. What you can do too resolve this issue is to clean your fan from dust.. Usually the fan sucks in dirt while keeping your system cool, overtime this dust clogs your fan causing a loud noise. You can also check your hard drive because defective or hard drives that have problem causes scratching noise as well. Hope this information help you a bit. Have a great day.

Loud grinding noise. Paper only coming half way out then getting Jam notice. Loud grinding is very loud.

Hi

Grinding noises indicate either gears that are self destructing or something is stuck inside. Take out the cartridge(s), remove the paper and all the plastic that comes off. Unplug the cables. Now lift the printer, turn upside down and shake. If there are broken gears a local repair shop might try to fix it but most stores refrain from this.
