SOURCE: fn birghtness key not working

If the "fn" key works with other "fn" command buttons it may be the drivers. Your machine came with a CD of drivers. I would visit Dell's Support website, plug in your "Service Tag" number (found on a label on your machine) and download the latest if your CD is missing. Re-install these drivers. Look into the "Dell Quickset Utility."

SOURCE: the fn key seems to be stuck on in order to get

Boot To BIOS and ensure you reset factory Defaults.

If no change try this:

Screen lights up, but no display dell precision m6300, display with external monitor

Hi,

Looks like the LCD screen has gone bad as you are getting the display on the external Monitor.
Try This to run a test to check if it would still work or not:

1. Turn off the Laptop
2. Press and Hold the D key on the laptop and then press the ower button to turn it on..
3. Leave the D key when it starts

This would run the check on the Laptop and if you see the color bars then the LCD is fine, if not then you would need to get it replaced.

Check this article for more info about this test:

How can i tell if my keyboard is backlit in inspiron 15r?

If you press any key on the keyboard, the back light should come on automatically. If not, hold down (Fn) function key and press "right arrow" with a blue florescent symbol until the back light is lit. Pressing the "right arrow" key while holding down the (Fn) key lits the back light and can also reduce, increase the light.
Hope this helps

I have a acer aspire 8935g it says it has a backlit keyboard but i dont no how to turn it on how o i do this

To turn on the Back-lit Keyboard, you must use a key combination:
1. Hold down the Fn key (left side beside the ctrl key) and then press the F9 key.
This key combo would also disable the back lighting if pressed again.
Hope this helps.

How do I turn on my backlit keyboard on my dell with windows vista?

Hi,

Sorry for the last answer. The expert probably didn't understand your question.

If you have purchased the optional backlit keyboard, the right-arrow key will have the backlit keyboard icon on it. The backlit keyboard provides visibility in dark environments by illuminating all symbols on the keys. The settings for this keyboard can be personalized by using
Dell QuickSet.

Backlit Keyboard Brightness Settings – Press <Fn> + right-arrow key to toggle between the three lighting states (in the given order).
The three lighting states are:
a. full keyboard/touch pad brightness
b. half keyboard/touch pad brightness
c. no lighting

Hope this helps. If you need the manual for this computer, it is located here:
