I just got this laptop a few weeks ago. Everything has been fine until about 3 days ago... Internet pages load slowly, and I can't play any videos or music online because they take way too long to buffer or they are just choppy or just never start. I've been told it was the phishing filter on mcafee, I disbled that, it's still doing this. I ran scans for viruses, spyware, malware... all I had were a few of those bad cookies and I deleted them. I have the Vista home basic... I am so frustrated. My OLD desktop works okay when I turn it on and connect to the internet, but my brand new laptop is slow as a snail. I've secured the wireless connection and double checked to make sure it wasnt slow because someone else was using it. Not the case either. What am I supposed to do? It's so annoying. All I want to do is be able to watch a video or listen to a song when I feel like it!

live streamin video from sites such as cnbc will not work. They will completely knock my computer off of the internet to the point that I have to reset my router to restore my connection.

Its because of vista service pack 1 i upgraded and then all my live streams stopped working. i downgraded and everything worked again the best advice i can say is to get VLC and use that to play all your live streams and stuff. its a great media player in general

You have to connect your PC to a TV which is compatible.
To watch the movies and live TV, you'll need the compatible TV, wires, PC with Windows 7 Home Premium (at least), or Professional, Ultimate.
For more info visit:
You can also sign up for Lattelecom Interneta TV and watch TV, but it is either in English (only some channels) or Latvian or Russian.

Download free version of windows vista

Legally, no. Bur about 2 years ago I played games for a couple of weeks on Microsoft's site to get myself a "free" copy of Vista Ultimate. Don't think they offer it as a prize any more though.

Video streaming that constantly buffers

At&t offers 4 speeds to its customers, 768 kbps 1.5 mbps, 3.0 mbps & 6.0 mbps.  On the 1.5 connection depending on what type of video you're watching, you will experience some glitching.  If your general internet seems slow, then scan for malware/spyware.
I reccomend you use malwarebytes free version doesn't give realtime protection

I cant find a way to use a live webpage desktop

The earlier "active desktop" function in Windows XP that allowed a live webpage as a desktop is no longer present in Vista. It was replaced by the SideBar. You probably need to look for a sidebar gadget that offers this functionality.
