That's the problem with AV resenders. You cant get the remote back to the box in the other room. There are systems of remote control resender that you can set up to do this for you. It has a receiver in the room you are sending to, and an LED remote picks up the remote control signal then bounces it by UHF radio signal to the other room, and then beams the infrared signal to the front of the to the paytv box from the remote transmitter end.

This is the type of product I am talking about, available from Jaycar in Australia. I am sure that you would be able to find something the same wherever you are in the world. Any questions, happy to help. A FixYa rating is a great reward for my time to research this for you. Cheers

My Toshiba tv goes to max volume every couple of minuets by itself

Do you have something new in the room that emitts IR signals?
You need to isolate the TV from a possibly rogue IR signal.
Try turning everything off in the room, unplug everything except the TV and Cable box if you are using one.
Turn off all the lights and turn the TV on and select a channel.
Is everything working, is the volume OK?
If you are still experiencing volume issues then this is TV problem and you will need to see a service centre or repair shop.
But if the sound is OK, then you can now start turning things on one at a time to see which device is causing your issue.
It could even be a light that is flickering at just the right frequency to cause your issue.
If it is a CFC or LED light, try a different manufacturer

Wifi network not working in some rooms

Change the position of the WiFi router, because there are things like duct work, metal studs and electrical wiring concealed in the walls that can and will have an effect on WiFi signal strength.

How do video transmitters work?

A transmitter works by turning the audio/video device it is connected to into a audio and video signal broadcaster. So that when a receiver is connected to another device within range of the transmitter it will be able to pick up the signal from the transmitter and play on this second device. Say you have a TV in the family room and one in your bedroom, if you connect a transmitter to the one in the family room and a receiver to the one in the bedroom they will both be able to receive the same transmission.

The two brands have different signaling protocols, the OEM remotes send out different signals and have not been compatible. There are Universal two button remotes to allow one remote to control different brand openers. Available at Home Depot etc.

Remote ineffective.

If you have a video camera with a night vision setting, wait until dark, turn out the lights and turn the camera onto night vision and look the the remote. When you press the buttons on the remote does the small led transmitter on the front ligh up. If so the remote is working but possibly sending the incorrect signals.

Using the device from the cable outlet

Not a stupid question. You should have received all the cables you need with the Leap Frog. To hook up your tv, take your transmitter and one set of a/v cables, usually red, white and yellow. Do one cable at a time. Your tv outputs should be color coded. You should have one set of three jacks completly open on the back or side of your tv, i.e. labeled component 1, component 2, aux 1, etc. First plug select one set of jacks. Plug a yellow plug into the yellow jack on your tv labeled video out. Plug the white plug into the white jack labeled audio L out. Plug the red plug into the red jack labeled audio R out. Now do the same on the transmitter but the jacks should say in. Yellow, white and red to video, audio L and audio R. Now take your receiver into the other room and do the same thing with the other tv. The cables go from the receiver out jacks to one set of jacks labeled Aux, component, etc like before. Pick a set that has all three open. Red to red, white to white, yellow to yellow. Make sure you then have the transmitter and receiver plugged in. Your remote is supposed to work from your other room. If this solved your problem please rate this as fixed. If you need more help with this just add a comment and I'll be glad to help you. Thanks.

Dvd will not play

Hi there. If i understand correctly, you do have the official microsoft DVD dongle and remote ? If so, you might wanna see if the remote is defective. Do you have a camcorder at home ? There is a trick to see if a remote sends it's infrared signals. Put the camcorder on, in a dark room, and put the IR transmitter on the top of the remote in front of the camera. You'll see the IR remote transmitter blinking if you press some buttons. Human eyes can't see it, but the camera does! Try it with another remote that you're sure that works, you'll see. If the microsoft xbox remote doesn't do anything, check batteries, else it's proably defect. If you like to tinker a bit with things, you might wanna open it up to check if there's any cold solder point on it (a broken connection), but you need soldering skills to do so. Else, you'll need a new remote. Hope that helps ! cheebster.
