I need to find out how to repair a laptop hard drive to make it detectable again. I bought one on ebay but it was damaged in the post. How can I save money by making it detectable again? My dell laptop cannot detect it (there is no prob with the laptop itself)(tested it)
My ibm thinkpad t20 pc **tebook was working great and all of a sudden im getting a message that says operating system **t found, hard drive **t installed, re-install hard drive. i have ** idea how to correct this problem. can you help? thanks

Unfortunately, you have to have the hard drive installed and running to do a manufacturer on line test, or if you have a usb cable with a 2.5" adapter on other end to connect to a pc to see if it runs or is readable. Not all hardrives work in all laptops, try to fit same make as removed if you already have'nt. Although, why keep something that was damaged in the post, try for a return.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I have since found that Dell (being awkward folk) require an interface adaptor to be between the hard drive and the laptop. Standard 2.5" IDE actually does not fit the laptop's internal connector. A special connector must also be purchased. Having now done this I have found it works fine.
I believe I have the same issue. I just purchased a new hard drive and my Inspiration 1150 is not seeing the drive. Where do you get the connector?
the laptop has never been altered since i purchased it. no external damages on it. and i would always keep it charged
Hp pavilion dv4 does not detect hard drive
