SOURCE: Problems printing from my Epson RX 595

I just purchased an RX595 to replace my R380, which went belly up after only a year.

To fix the "close scanner" problem, try placing weight on top of the scanner. Its annoying to have to keep a stack of DVD's on top of my printer, but it works.

Epson needs to refine their products and quit raping people on ink. People talk about "Big Oil" what about "BIg Ink?"

SOURCE: Error Epson RX 595- Close the Scanner Unit

I just had the same problem. I figured that there must be a lever that gets pushed in when the lid closes and sure enough there's a square hole in the vent area (look in the area below the serial number) and in that is a small lever is that gets pushed down by the piece that's attached to the lid. For some reason, it's not pushing it down far enough or the lever has bent and it doesn't connect. My only solution (for now) was to jam a pencil into the lever to push it down all the way and sure enough, it worked. I'm sure there's a better, more permanent (and more attractive) way to repair this, but for now, it works and I need to print out 60 copies of an event program for tomorrow night! Good luck!

SOURCE: Epson printer says "cannot recognize ink cartridges".

Are you using genuine epson cartridges? Many generics simply dont work on the newer printers. Once the printer decides the cartridge is empty, it sends a signal to the chip and that's it. You might hear ink, but if the chip says empty you can't use it. It also has the annoying habit of doing this when there's still 10-15% of the ink left.
I use reusable cartridges from http://www.ccs-digital.com They hold 2/3 more ink and the chips automatically reset to full if you remove and re-insert the cartridge. Instead of replacing the entire cartridge when it's empty, you pop out an internal ink tank and replace just that. So you know the chip has already been recognized by your printer. The ink tanks cost under $3. I think these are a brilliant invention.

I would take them out and double check for any remaining packing material etc and then make sure they are fully inserted. The simple things are always the ones to start with

Install ink cartridges for an Epson 315 workforce

If you do not want to go through the guide, here is a quick instruction on how to insert the ink cartridge.
Remove and Install Cartridges Be sure you have your replacement cartridges handy before you begin. You must install new cartridges immediately after removing the old ones. Caution:
Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to install the ink. Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability. If an ink cartridge is low or expended, you see a message on the WorkForce 310 Series LCD display screen indicating which color to replace. Press OK. If you're replacing a cartridge before you see a message on the WorkForce 310 Series LCD display screen, press the ink.9.7.1.jpg Copy button, press ink.9.7.2.jpg Menu, press ink.9.7.3.jpg or ink.9.7.4.jpg to select Maintenance, and press OK. Then select Ink Cartridge Replacement and press OK. 1. Open the scanner, then open the cartridge cover. ink.9.7.5.jpg 2. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift it up. Dispose of it carefully. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it. ink.9.7.6.jpg Warning:
If ink gets on your hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children. 3. Before you open the new cartridge package, shake it four or five times. Then remove it from the package. ink.9.7.7.jpg Caution:
Do not touch the green chip on the front of the cartridge. This can damage the ink cartridge. 4. Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the ink cartridge. Caution:
Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak. 5. Insert the new ink cartridge into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place. 6. Once you replace all the cartridges that need replacing, close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place. ink.9.7.8.jpg 7. Close the scanner. 8. Press OK to begin charging the ink. This takes about 2 minutes. When you see a completion message on the LCD display screen, ink charging is finished. Go through your user manual for further guide on how to install ink.

Installed a black ink cartridge and the printer shows the message 'black cartridge missing' and also says 'cartridge error: error 50c'

Hi there Error 50c

Can only gave it a try.

Regarding the Dell A940 "Error 50c"....the user guide doesn't seem to mention "Error 50c". They do, however, mention a "Cartridge Error" on page 52 of the manual. They claim this means that the printer has detected a short circuit (fuse/resister) in the cartridge. As you may or may not have noticed in the manual, this is what they recommend doing about it:

1) Press Power to turn the printer off.

2) Lift the printer cover/lid (scanner unit) until the scanner support holds it open.

3) Turn the printer on.
The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

4) Remove the color ink cartridge.

5) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.
If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new black cartridge.

If the error message does not display, repeat steps 1–3 and then go to step 6.

6) Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge.

7) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new
color cartridge.
If there is no error message (indicated by flashing lights), repeat steps 1–3 and then reinstall both ink cartridges.
8) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If you get the error message again, while both cartridges are installed, replace both of the cartridges.

Basically, what they want you to determine is,....if the short circuit is with the "black ink" cartridge or the "color ink" cartridge and then replace the cartridge that has the problem.

You may have to buy a new cartrige.
Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.
