It is very simple. You hold press the menu button until the screen changes the menu list. Go to advanced menu at the down end, then choose format.

I experienced the same problem (my USB device ). try these steps:
1. Start, Control Panel,
2. Performance and Maintenance,
3. Administrative Tools,
4. Computer Management,
5. Disk Management,
6. Find the USB drive (usually the last storage device before the optical drive),
7. Click on the USB drive,
8. Right click on it and you will see the options (New Partition or Format)
9. Follow the instruction (I chose FAT32), but please do NOT chose Quick Format.

I have problem with my mp3 player. when i plug in it shows removable disk with no space. 0 bytes 0 memory.

You most likely have an internal 'format' media problem with your mp3 Flash memory: if you can see your files while plug-in, would first back them on your PC (if possible) before performing a 'low-level' format or your MP3 media using your Windows disk utilities or more likely using a utility such as 'Flash Memory Toolkit': I would suggest that you get an 'expert' friend to do it for you if you are not sure.

Usb flash drive problem

LLFTOOL is a utility for low-level disk drive formatting,
also supports formatting of FLASH cards using a card-reader.

1. Download this tool:

2. Format

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

Flash error

Generally this either means you have a filesystem error or the flash memory that your mp3 player stores its music on has gone bad.

If you plug the mp3 player into your PC and view its drive letter in my computer. By right clicking to open the command window you can choose format. When you make sure you do not have quick format checked, go ahead with the format. This will erase all of the music currently on it, but may fix the problem with replacing the file system. If your memory is bad, your best bet is to replace the unit. Repairing these is generally never worth the cost since they drop in price half every 6 months.

Try the following:
1) Plug the USB MP3 player to your PC then reboot.
2) On windows, go to windows explorer then right on the USB MP3 player and click format.
3) If you get the same error you might run out of memory.
4) Free some installed programs by uninstalling then try steps 1 and 2 again.
