Question about Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My cannon powershot sd1000 camera got wet and I cannot take photos

My camera dropped into a swimming pool but was removed immediately before it got fully immersed. I can now view the photos that were already on the card but any new photo comes out as a black page. If I try to videotape, I hear the voices but do not see the image. Is here a solution to this?

Well it's possible that water got in the inner workings of the camera and the camera got ruined. What probably happened is the water got on the sensor that records the video but not on the microphone that records the sound. That's probably why it will not record video but will record sound. Same thing with trying to take still photos the water got on the sensor and ruined it. Now as for a solution for the problem, some people would say to send it in to canon for repairs. But the thing about that is by the time you pay for shipping and repair work you might as well buy a new camera from eBay, Amazon or Canon Direct. One Camera I would really recommend for you is the Canon SX130. Its a great camera that takes awesome pictures for the price. I am always here if you want to ask any more questions and FixYa has a lot of very knowledgeable people on its site. Thanks very much I sincerely hope we can help you solve you problem Nathan

My Cannon SD1000 Powershot is stuck on video and will not switch to photo mode.

Could be related to a stuck shutter which is a common problem with this camera. Check that all physical parts are moving and do an unstuck process to free the shutter if this is the issue. See the link for more details:

I use to download photos from my cannon d1000 know i do not no whats wrong i cant do it

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Lens Error

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

I have a Cannon SD1000 stuck in revie mode. My daughter pulled it

If this was indeed dropped STOP! take it to a camera shop so they can do the repairs as you could damage other parts in the camera.

What could have happend when she dropped the camera the sensor inside got stuck into position to protect it from further damage. My advice is spend a couple bucks and take it in you be glad you did!

I just dropped my Canon SD750 and now it won't turn on. Is there a reset button?....or am I out of luck?

I had a Cannon EasyShare CX7000 many years ago, had the same problem exactly, Canon cameras are not that durable when it comes to dropping it, but I have a Cannon Powershot SD1000 and I have dropped it numerous times and it still functions like it's new. three words REPLACE YOUR CAMERA. oh, and there is no reset button, you are out of luck

I lost my install CD for my CANNON SD1000 my Operation system is Microsoft VISTA, please help me

Your camera should automatically show up in Vista when you plug it in. If it doesn't, please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading directly from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Wet elph

That kind of submersion is usually a lethal thing, plus turning it on while still wet could deliver a nice killing blow, just to make sure it's dead... you passed current through conductive water spread inside the electronics. Don't mean to discourage you, there's always a chance, and you could take it for a shop to give you the final verdict, but if you told them what it went through there's a chance that they won't even bother opening it up. Sorry, at least life aint boring? ;[
