SOURCE: Pressure Switch or Air dome?

Does it stop filling when you hit Start/pause or do you have to shut off water supply? The air dome is the black rubber piece that is clamped to the pump housing. Usually i find that clogged not letting the pressure sw operate proper. I belive the switch has 4 wires. It has 2 contacts, one closes with a small amount of water visible in tub, hi contacts close with water much higher - even filling bottom of boot.

SOURCE: Calypso Washer

When changing a pressure switch on a calypso you have to be sure the tub is empty. blow air into the hose to clear, also observe for moisture where the hose connects to the tube for a pin hole leak in the tube.

Maytag Performa washer overflows when filling on any size load. Will stop when I push in the timer knob.

Overflow is usually caused by a "stuck-open" fill valve, with the cold water half of the valve 'sticking' open from sediment buildup inside the valve.

This can also be caused by the fill system control components: pressure switch, pressure tube, or pressure tube dome/port. So let's take a look at these.

First of all, determine whether your overflow condition is mechanical or electrical. Start the washer filling, then turn the timer off by pushing the knob in. If the fill continues, pull the washer plug. If filling continues with the washer unplugged, you have a mechanical problem - nearly always a stuck valve ***'y. Replace the fill valve.

If however, the fill stops when you unplug the machine, you are looking at an electrical fill control problem, and it gets a little more complicated.

Here a small piece of rubber or plastic tubing is handy. Unplug the washer and open the console where you'll see the pressure switch. This is the switch with a small rubber tube, usually clear, sometimes black, attached. Pull this tube off and replace it with your short tubing. Blow a bit of pressure into the switch using your mouth, and listen for a click, then another when you release the pressure. Hear two clicks? Good! The switch is probably OK

Plug the washer back in (being aware that components in the console are now 'hot' - live electric, use extreme caution , u can be SHOCKED), and start the washer filling again. With it filling, again blow a bit of pressure into the switch. If the switch is good, the fill should stop and the machine should start to agitate.

This verifies that the pressure switch is working, and causes us to suspect the pressure tubing or a clogged port/dome to which it connects. Wipe off the end of the original tube you removed from the switch, and blow into it. You're blowing air down into the tank now, and you should feel very little restriction. If it is very hard or impossible to blow through this tube, the tank dome or port is clogged.

Really old Maytags were known for this, and if you have one, spin out all water, remove the 'Corbin' clamp from the pressure tube outside of the tank and pull the tube off. (Pull washer front off - 2 Phillips screws at bottom, then two 3/8 in. hex screws release top, which swings upward) You will probably see 'gunk' clogging both the rubber tubing and the 'spud' that is a part of the tank. The hose ***'y can be taken to a sink and flushed clean with hot water, and an old toothbrush used to clear the tank spud, which, in the Maytags, is about 3/4 in. ID.

Very important: WHENEVER THE PRESSURE TUBE IS REMOVED, BEFORE REINSTALLING IT, BE SURE ALL WATER HAS BEEN SPUN OUT OF THE WASHER! Otherwise, the water fill level will be incorrect and you'll be back in trouble.

Tip

My Maytag Neptune washer takes longer than usual to complete the cycle.

Hi.

When the washing machine is working, takes an unusually long time to complete the cycle, that is not usually do to a control unit (CCU) fault, but to the fact that one condition needed to follow on the cycle is not met. The CCU may have to wait a longer time, and will not proceed to complete the cycle.

The most obvious thing to check are the water hoses, checking the drain hose and the inlets. If water is not coming with sufficient pressure, or if one of the hoses is blocked or kinked, the cycle time may take much longer than normal.

Other common problems are the pressure switch (SWITCH, PRESSURE), that detects water level, and the thermostat (on self heating models only).
The pressure switch determines when to stop filling and draining. If the pressure switch is faulty, then drain and filling may take much longer or go on forever.

Check also that water valve and dispenser valve are not clogged. (VALVE, WATER) and (DISPENSER VALVE )

On the water valve there may be a thermistor (not all models), check that the thermistor contact is not disconnected (WATER VALVE W' THERMISTOR) , as the thermistor may also be faulty.

I have a model lse7806ace maytag stackable washer/dryer unit. Initially, the washer would not do anything. I replaced the lid switch and it then filled and agitated at the same time... but when it went...

Ok , when you pull out the washer knob to start it the water fills . Can you stop the filling by pushing the knob in? if so the water valve is ok.
There is a sensing tube from the tub which connects to the pressure switch. This is what causes the water level pressure switch to shut off at the correct level. I would suspect this as they replaced the pressure switch and it keeps filling. If this is the case there is a small hole which will cause the pressure switch not to turn off the fill valves.

You can check this by removing the tube and submerging it in some water then blow in the tube while blocking the other end , if you see bubbles it is leaking and needs replacing.Hope this helps

Washer wont fill enough water

Washers have a (vacum pipe) that feeds a micro switch. The air pressure in the vacume pipe caused by the water filling the washer activates a vacum switch when the correct amount of water has entered the machiene. This vacum pipe could be partly blocked or the vacume pressure switch contacts burnt of faulty. This can be tested by physicaly blowing air by mouth into the pipe and you should hear the switch click.

My maytag washer does not stop filling with water no matter what size load I change it to.

The mixer valve (water valve) solenoid has failed in the open position.

Change out the valve to repair.

Water Level and Water continues to drip after cycle has ended.

The water dripping into the tub is caused by the fill valve solenoid not closing completely. The fix is to replace the fill valve. The overfilling of the washer is caused by the pressure switch. Over time the diaphram within the pressure switch becomes fatiqued & fails. The fix for this is to replace it as well... Hope this helps... Bill

1999 maytag neptune washer stops after filling up with water

There are a couple of common causes for a problem like this. First is a bad door lock assembly that also damages the machine control board (in the control panel). If this is the case the R11 resistor on the machine control board will be burnt.

Maytag has identified seven resistors that relate to specific components that need to be checked or replaced if the resistor is damaged. Listed here are the resistor identification, the circuit involved, and the recommendation:

R9 / pressure switch / check for loose connections or high resistance on switch contacts; replace pressure switch if necessary.

R11 / door lock wax motor / replace door lock mechanism and machine control board.

R51 / hot water valve solenoid / replace water valve and machine control board.

R52 / timer motor / check for loose relay terminal connections and replace machine control board.

R53 / cold water valve solenoid / replace water valve and machine control board.

R143 / (-) 24 Volt DC / contact was made between neutral and the 24 Volt DC circuit.

R162 / electrical buffer circuit / wire harness and machine control board.

Another common issue is a slow water fill fault. If the washer does not fill within a certain time the control will stop on a fault. Usually when this happens the START button can be pushed to continue the cycle.

Washing machines that won't fill or fill slowly often have a restriction in the incoming water supply -- usually in the screens of the inlet hose washers or the water inlet valve itself. Remove the hoses to inspect this condition. If the water inlet valve screens are plugged, replace the water inlet valve.

Maytag Stackable W/D

well htere is a fuse, its located right behind the washers front panel on hte right hand side. its an inline fuse( you can find at hardware or auto part store FUSE (250V 1A) , but this would stop all operations not just water fill. With the front panel off you can "see" through the machine to the filll valve and check it for poower when the "fill" is selected, I would point to a bad water valve or even a faulty prssure switch( not allowing power to the valve befoer condeming the timer.. the pressure switch is also located on the front rail by the fuse assembly anbd will have a plastic'rubber tube connected to it, i would disconnect and blow through the tube for possible obstruction.. ( if the pressure switch is satisified., the machine will think there is wate rin the machine and therfore wont allow anymore to enter.

Agitator wont spin

Water level controls - The water level control is also know as a pressure switch, this is where you set the water level ( small - medium - large ). The water level control is responsible to shut off the power to the fill valve and direct that power to the timer so the washing machine can start up. The WLC has electrical contacts in it that sends power to the fill valve and when the WLC is satisfied the water level is correct the electrical contacts open power to the fill valve and send the power to the timer and the washer starts. Picture of this here. How the water level control knows when it is time to shut the water off is, a air tight hose runs from the outer washer tank to the water level control. As the water fills the outer tank air is pushed up the hose, depending on which setting you have made ( small- medium - large ) is takes a certain amount of this pressure to make the WLC cycle over and shut off the water and send this power to the timer. If this hose develops a leak or a pin hole the washer can over fill as the WLC may not be able to shut the water off. The water level control can also break down and allow the washer to over fill as well.
Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a ohm meter or a volt meter. Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a ohm meter or a volt meter. Testing a  water level control or a fill valve can be done by using a ohm meter or a volt meter.
A couple of tips from readers (Thankx!! ):
~ If you have a loose hose on the water level control or tank end, use a plastic wire tie to help hold the hose tighter and make a tight fit.
~ The water level tube (tube that runs from the square box), access panel on the outer drum where the bleach tube also ends) from the pressure sensor switch (front panel) can become clogged.  Or the two holes from the outer tub into this square box panel on the outside of the outer tub can become clogged. Either clog, I am told by my help repair guy can cause the sensor to think that there is still too much water in the tub and so will not allow motor to activate spin.
~ If the water level control contact is bad, it may also stop the filling ok, but not tell the washer to start agitating.
