Ive just resolved this issue on my own boiler...... Its the programmer ,replace it as the micro switch has gone , when it comes on the lights only come on the internal switch does not ,so no sognal to boiler , replace programmer
Assuming this is a combi boiler and you mean that the main gas burner comes on then off:- How long after - 5-20 secs check overheat thermostat Check the wires to it are firmly in place i.e. making a connection. If Ok? then you can short this out by joining the wires together - do with boiler OFF at mains electricity Longer - say 1-2 mins check secondary heat exchanger for blockage - usually furred up inside & only solution is replacement
most have an overrun built in for a few minutes. if much longer have you got a room thermostat anywhere to turn down If it never turns off check the switch which controls ON/TIMED/OFF and turn to timed or off. if it still continues on timed then it's the timer
it sounds like the problem may be in the boiler and not the controller itself. Do you kno which is are the two wores that are the r-w for the thermostat take and purt them together and see if the boiler stays on or shuts off like it does with the thermostat. If it does then replace the reciever. If it doesn't then you have another problem. Good Luck
