Thanks Danny but your solution did not post correctly please send again. The thing about the 4 x 4 white box. All I see is the auger drive enclosure. Thanks, Bob

Hi Robert: sorry about the delay in response.
sounds like your issue has been resolved, but the ice maker on most units have a timer module in the unit that is 4" X 4" that house the timer motor that cycles the ice maker and produces the harvest of cubes, there is a way to jump each cycle ahead to see what has gone wrong..let me know if this is your plight.thank you.................daniel

If heater element is open the newly made cubes will stick to the tray and not be pushed out by the fingers doing the ejecting.

Ice maker is not dropping ice

there are 2 things that could be problem, 1 is a heater element that heats the bottom of frozen cubes slightly to allow the cubes to be pushed out into the tray by plastic fingers under the cubes and controlled by a motor. best bet would be to get model number of fridge and/or ice maker and look for direct replacement online. There is a company out of Chicago that offers replacements for lots of models. Sorry I dont have their name, but google the results for ice maker for your make/model fridge.

Electrolux EW28BS71IS French Door Fridge no water and no ice

First check that you have good water pressure to the water valve. If you do, then the problem is in your refrigerator. And the most likely fault is the solenoid controled water valve which is a one in two out valve. Follow the water line from you house input and the first place it connects is that valve.

The Ice maker has stopped working.

There are usually 2 small solenoid valves that are used to control water. Both are generally installed at the rear close to the bottom of the fridge. One of the solenoids controls the water flow for drinks and the other is to control water flow to the ice maker. You can determine which is which by tracing the water supply tubes from the freezer compartment to the solenoid or by process of elimination. The latter method requires that you feel for movement (clicking) or heat on the water dispenser solenoid while someone starts to fill a glass with water from the fridge.

Before going any further, make sure that the ice cube detection arm in the freezer is not up. Gently push the arm down if it is. When ice cubes are ready, the ice maker turns on a small heater to break the bond of the ice cubes to the cube mold. The arm is lifted up and out of the way. Then the mechanical fingers wipe or push on the cubes to dislodge them from the ice cube mold and they fall into the container. The arm is then lowered again and rests on top of the ice collected in the container. The position of the arm when resting on the ice cubes determines whether or not any more ice cubes are made.

If the arm is hanging down, then ice cube production should be on. The problem may be either a faulty solenoid valve (mentioned above), switch in the ice maker assembly - the detection arm in particular or wiring between.

Ice maker jammed. Ejector fingers in incorrect position.

Is the position off - or the icetray heater failed?
Just before ejection - there is a heater element that warms the ice for easy discharge.

Check that the heater is working.

Reply with the model # of the fridge for more exact help.

Thanks!!

Icemaker is making ice but it will not drop into container

Ice maker has built in heater to thraw ice alittle so the finger scooper lifts up ice and out. Be sure the ice cubes are not stuck in between fingers cause that will jam it. if you dont see any jam then replace ice maker

Some one else reported the same problem...It just drops a few ice cubes a day 2 maybe 4 if we're lucky

The following assumes that the ice compartments are filling with water. Be sure you check that as the first step in diagnosing your problem.

The ice maker is controlled by a temperature sensor which determines when the 'dump' cycle begins. There is a heater in the small ice cube wells that furnishes heat when the dump cycle is initiated in order to make the ice cubes come out of the well.

If this heater is not working, you'll get the symptoms you describe. Possibly a few ice cubes will dump without the heater, but most will not and since the remaining ice is already frozen, another cycle won't occur until the cold ice is dumped, so all you get are those few cubes that just happened to dump without the help of the heater.

It's possible that the control thermostat is bad, not 'telling' the heater to come on, but in most cases, when the thermostat or anything in the control circuit goes bad, the ice maker will simply stop working.

Which brings us to the heating coils surrounding the ice cube compartments. It can be removed by reasonably skilled homeowner, but if you feel uncomfortable about taking the ice-making mechanism apart, best to leave it to a qualified repairman.

Hope this was helpful.

Ice maker not dropping the ice once it is frozen.

Yes there is a heater that releases the ice cubes from the tray as they are being elected. There is an overheat thermostate relay inseries with the element in the ice maker assembly. The element is installed in the metal housing that holds the tray.

If the cubes do not release the heater should remain on until they do. Suggest that you turn off the ice maker by lifting arm to off and wait several hours. Open door drop arm and observe. If the cubes remain stuck when ejector fingers attempt to eject and ice doesen't eject then heater is not coming on. Suggest replace ice maker. The parts are easily available and easy to replace!
