Question about Nikon Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I formatted my SD card on my PC, which I should have. I am trying to reformat the card on my Nikon Coolpix L15, but it freezes and shows a black screen when ever I select set up. Is there anyway for me to reformat my card, or is it toast?

Hi there
if you fomatted the card on your p.c. it may have done it in the ntfs format which the camera doesn't understand. try re formatting the card on your p.c. but select the fat32 option.
its a long shot but try it anyway.

hope this helps

This reason might be because of Virus in your memory cards the best option is.. try formatting the memory card or use different SD card, and reset your camera settings

PNY memory card doesn't work in my nikon coolpix 5600 camera

TWhat type and size memory card are you trying to use? The 5600 works with SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

To format an SD card, see page 97 of the manual: http://www.fixya.com/support/p423-nikon_coolpix_5600_digital_camera/usermanual-0FF7E2C-pdf

Nikon coolpix copy button will not work

Make sure the SD card is not set to protect with the small slide switch on the side of the card, then try formatting the SD card NOT the internal memory.

THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED

Try reformatting the memory card through your camera, normal under menu or options.
If not you may have a different format kind of memory card such as sdhc versus just sd and you camera may not support it

The camera keeps showing the same message '' memory card is write protected'' I can not use the camera because of this, also when I go to reformat card it passes over that so I can't reformat the card :-( ...

Remove the SD or SDHC memory card from the camera. Look at the front of the card, on the left there should be a little slide with an arrow pointing down that says "Lock". The slide should be in the "up" position.

Camera does not show taken ( saved) pictures

problem is in memory card...i think. try with cleaning memory card contacts. use pure alcohol and small piece of cotton to clean dust or other dirt. if this not help, try some card reader to transfer images from camera to PC. try also with some other camera. it's possible memory card is damaged and you can't do nothing. try reinstall nikon software on your PC.

Sd card

To reformat the card so the Nikon Coolpix can use it you can use the DOS command 'format' e.g. format g: HOWEVER the default DOS format is FAT32 which the Coolpix will not read. The SD card needs to be formatted in FAT.

Open a DOS command window and type:

Format 'volume' /fs:FAT

Where 'Volume' is the drive letter to be formatted. On my PC this was 'G'. This may be different on your PC. Make sure it isn't an internal drive e.g. C or D!

e.g. format g: /fs:FAT

The card then works OK on the CoolPix
