bottom left cover ram is in there. also wifi card. hard drive top left. battery on the right.cd/dvd rom at the top. ram just clips in as long as it is the right type if don't fit in don't force it.
Looks to be 6 Philips head screws to remove. The panel lifts up on the LEFT side. There are TABS extruded from this large panel, which go into the Base Enclosure, (Bottom Cover), on the Right side.
From the Specifications on Acer's Support website,
Towards the Top you see the White processor socket. Upper corners are cut off, and there is a single screw in the top/middle. Right above it are two white Ram Memory slots.
EACH ram memory slot will support (Use) 2GB of DDR2 at 667MHz.
2GB = Amount DDR2 stands for DDR2 Sdram, and is it SO-DIMM to fit in a laptop. 667MHz stands for 667MegaHertz. The frequency rate ('Speed') that the Ram Memory operates at.
The TOTAL amount of ram memory for the laptop is 4GB. That means you can use two modules, ('Sticks') of DDR2 Sdram at 667MHz. Or also stated as PC2-5300.
Just make SURE it is SO-DIMM, or you will be getting the larger DIMM ram memory used in a desktop computer. An example of SO-DIMM,
Note the Side Notch on Each side. The half-moon cutout. Note the Locating Notch on the Bottom.
Also; Everywhere on the Ram Memory module, EXCEPT the gold plated contact pins at the Bottom; is the BODY.
The Body is coated with a see-through protective plastic. Handle the Ram Memory module by the Body. Refrain from touching the gold plated contact pins.
[WORK on a table. {Or workbench} DO NOT work on a bed, couch, or directly on a carpet floor! High areas of Static electricity. Static WILL fry out, (Short Circuit) computer hardware components]
If you have two Ram Memory modules, one will be stacked on top of the other one. You remove the top one first, then access the bottom one.
To remove a ram memory module, simply ease the spring clips on either side -> OUT. Out away from the Ram Memory module. This action takes the 'Bumps' on the Spring Clips, out of the Side Notches on the Ram Memory module.
DO NOT get carried away. Just ease one spring clip out, then ease the other one out. You can bend the spring clips if you are too rough. When both spring clip 'bumps' are out of the way, the Ram Memory module will spring up slightly.
Remove AT THAT ANGLE.
Slide the Ram Memory module out, at the same slight angle, (30 degrees?), that it just popped up to.
IF you lift the Ram Memory module straight up, you WILL damage the gold plated contact pins on the bottom of the Ram Memory module; and the contact pins in the Ram Memory slot.
To install a Ram Memory module, look at the location of the Locating Notch on the Bottom. This aligns with a Locating Lug, in the bottom of the ram memory slot. ONLY goes in one way.
Locating Notch aligned with Locating Lug, slide the Ram Memory module in, in the SAME slight angle it came out at. Make sure the gold plated contact pins of the Ram Memory module, are well seated in the ram memory slot.
(Ram Memory module is pushed in tightly, in the Ram Memory slot) Then press down on the tilted up side, until the spring clips lock in place.
Here is a video demonstrating the above, but NOT your laptop,
IF, you are ONLY installing ONE Ram Memory module, it MUST go in Slot 1. Also known as DIMM 1.
The Processor (CPU) reads what is in Slot 1 -> F-I-R-S-T.
Know this; If you are using the regular Windows XP Home, or Pro; it is the 32-bit version. If it is the Windows XP Pro 64-bit version, it will state so. Either on the body of the laptop, or go to System Properties.
[Left-click on Start > then Right-click on My Computer. Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the drop down list ]
Windows Vista 64-bit will state so also.
Point? IF you have a 32-bit Operating System, your laptop will ONLY recognize about 3.2 to 3.5GB of ram memory; if you have 4GB installed.
Takes a 64-bit Operating System to recognize all 4GB.

This is a PDF file. Scroll the page down using the scroll bar all the way to the right, until the top header of the PDF file reader shows.
To the immediate right of the number 216 at the top, is the Page Down Arrow. To the left of the number 216 is the page number box. The PDF reader page numbers do Not match the actual manual's pages.
Put your mouse cursor in the page number box. Backspace the 1 out. Left-click once. Type -> 95 Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
(In the Top header is also the controls for view size. To the left of the page number box is a Slider that is a blue 'Dot'. Left-click on the blue 'Dot', hold the left mouse button down, and drag it to the left to Decrease the view size. To the right to Increase view size )
Under the bold subheading - Prerequisite, click on the blue - Base Door removal
Bottom of laptop facing you, open Battery Compartment to the Top, away from you, the Base Door is at the bottom. Rectangular cover that has two Philips screws holding it on.
One screw at the Top/Middle, one screw at the Bottom/Middle. Remove these two screws, do not lose them. (Double-sided sticky tape to table, and stick the screws to the tape )
BEFORE beginning; Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
To go on; This is a general example of a laptop SO-DIMM ram memory module,
Note the Locating Notch on the bottom, and the two Side Notches on either side.
The Locating Notch at the bottom, lines up with a Locating Lug in the bottom of the ram memory slot. For this reason it can ONLY be installed in one direction.
There are spring clips that 'snap' into the Side Notch/es. The top of one spring clip is eased to the outside of the laptop. Now ease the other spring clip to the outside.
Once both spring clips are freed from the Side Notches, the ram memory module should pop up a little.
(Sometimes you have to keep one spring clip, held out with one hand, and with the other hand move the other spring clip out )
Remove the Ram Memory module, at almost the SAME angle as it is now. Slightly tilted.
DO NOT bring the Ram Memory module straight up, or you will damage the gold plated contact pins of the Ram Memory module, and also the contact pins down in the ram memory slot.
Notice how ram memory in Slot 1, (Slot A), is on top of the ram memory module in Slot 2. (Slot B) If you have two ram memory modules installed, you have to remove the top ram memory module, first. (Slot A)
Again, if you are just going to use ONE ram memory module, it goes in Slot 1 (Slot A)
Look at the ram memory slot, and the Locating Lug in the bottom, and/or observe which way the Locating Notch on the ram memory module was, before you took it out.
Line the ram memory module up with the Locating Lug. Install it at the same angle roughly, that you took it out at.
Once in the correct position the spring clips 'bumps', will snap down into the Side Notches, of the ram memory module. (Click / Click)
Reinstall the Base Door. Reinstall the Battery. Attach the AC adapter (Charger), and plug the AC adapter into power.
(ALWAYS plug into the laptop FIRST, then plug into power. Otherwise a power surge could happen, and burn out electronic components in the power section of the motherboard)
RAM modules in laptops are secured by spring clips on both sides of the RAM module. To release the RAM module press the clips away from the RAM module and the RAM module will pop up at an angle. You can then pull the RAM module away from the memory slot. Insert the RAM module in the slot, push it into th slot and then press the RAM module down until the clips on the side lock onto the RAM module.
You are correct. The nut on top of the canister is loosened and the canister drops down. First - disconnect the electrical pigtail for the water sensor (at the bottom of the canister. Second - turn the water fuel bleed valve (yellow) near the top front of the canister to control spillage when you do remove the canister. The new filter comes with new O ring seals. Moisten with claean diesel and install. Add clean diesel to the newly installed filter and you will have an easier start up.
For shock removal and replacement is fairly easy -- first remove the top shock nut and then the three nuts on the tower surronding the upper shock nut - then remove the bottom through bolt and pull shock up through the top -- install in reverse order - (don't worry about the shock expanding after you get the bottom bolt back in, you can push the top of the shock down with the tower and secure it). recommend you replace both front shocks
Did you install the RAM correctly? The RAM needs to be installed in matched pairs in a G5. There ar 2 banks of RAM slots. Ram should be installed from the centre outwards. (i.e bottom slot of the upper bank and top slot of the lower bank). Then move on to the next pair.
