Half of it goes away in the first 30 years, leaving 0.5mg. Half of that goes away in the second 30 years, leaving 0.25mg. Half of that goes away in the third 30 years, leaving 0.125mg after 90 years.

How do I measure 15 mg out of 20 mg?

I assume you don't have any weigh scales to measure it.
Whatever the substance is, I would try and make the shape as uniform as possible. Cut it in half. Cut one of the halfs in half again to produce two quarters. Take away one of the quarters. What is left should be close to 15 mg.

Good luck,

Paul

How are protons organized ?

Atomic protons? The nucleus of the atom of each stable element has a certain number of protons, and except for hydrogen, also neutrons. These numbers are what differentiate the elements and give them properties, whether gaseous, metallic, alkaline, reactive or inert. Protons have a positive electrical charge.

The number of electrons will match the number of protons to give a stable atom a neutral net charge. An atom which loses or gains an electron or 2 is known as an ion. An atom which gains one or more neutrons is known as an isotope. However ions and isotopes still have their proper numbers of protons.

Ions will seek to attach to another particle so as to gain stability. Isotopes will decay over time, sometimes thousands of years.

All the elements are arranged in families or groups where chemical properties are comparable, in the Periodic Table of the Elements

What if 50mg of actinium-226 disintegrates over a period of 87hours, how many mg of actinium-226 will return?

The half life of Actinium 226 is about 1.2 days (Check with the source of the question). Let the half life be T_1/2.
The equation of the radioactive decay is
N(t)=N_0*exp(-ln2*t/T_1/2)
For the mass
m(t)=m_0*exp(-(ln2)*t/T_1/2)

There remains 6.16 mg after 87 hours.

What is Term Life insurance?

Term life insurance can help protect your beneficiaries against financial loss resulting from your death; it pays the face amount of the policy, but only provides protection for a definite, but limited, amount of time. Term policies do not build cash values and the maximum term period is usually 30 years. Term policies are useful when there is a limited time needed for protection and when the dollars available for coverage are limited. The premiums for these types of policies are significantly lower than the costs for whole life. They also (initially) provide more insurance protection per dollar spent than any form of permanent policies. Unfortunately, the cost of premiums increases as the policy owner gets older and as the end of the specified term nears.

We at CAAP Davao Philippines have a MGE Galaxy 3000 10KVa UPS with serial no. 13299-4. It was installed last 2003. We had three times replaced its batteries over the period of years, the latest was 2008....

On the Galaxy display you could see what is the remaining battery life time as calculated by the software. Normally after you replaced the batteries you are supposed to reset this counter using specific software by the manufacturer. According to your information you have replaced the batteries 3 times in 5 years period. This is not normal. Nevertheless since the last replacement in 2008 it appears that the battery are now reaching the end life, which is generally 3-5 years life expectancy.

I would review the following of the assumption that the UPS is fully operational and the charging system is working.

1. Do a load test or a battery impedance test to verify the batteries are good
2. I would look at the battery life time specification, whether it is 3-5 years, 5-7 years ect.
3. Check the room temperature, every 10 degrees Celcius above 25 deg reduces battery life time by half
4. Check the number of power failures/ duration of these power failures and if possible what load were on the UPS at the time of the power failures.
I hope this will help. If all verifications are to specifications, then most likely it is a software problem

Broken LCD

Plasma television is on for 8 hours a day, its half-life would be about 9 years - or, if on 4 hours a day, the half-life would be about 18 years.
Keep in mind that a standard television loses about 30% of its brightness after about 20,000 hours. Since this process is very gradual, the consumer isn't aware of this effect, except for the need to periodically adjust the brightness and contrast controls to compensate.
Although the performance of individual Plasma TVs can vary, overall, as a product class, a Plasma television can deliver many years of acceptable viewing.

Hope that helps........
