SOURCE: Should the main breaker be cut off to remove a trilliant square d breaker, 30 amp double....suggestions on best way to remove breaker if avaiable

NEVER WORK ANY ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT "HOT" when it can be turned off. sometimes, one only gets one try. Make sure breaker handle(of new breaker ) is also in the off position. Only after breaker is "seated onto panel busswork, should the load(wires) be connected. ALWAYS, when wiring a circuit, start at the end fartherest away from the panel. Example: If installing a 240v. receptacle, hook wires and mount receptacle then hook-up in panel. Secure end away first so that breaker can not be accidentally turned on while installing device.

I'm a licensed electrician with 24 years experience, and I Shut everything Off when I'm working, if the main is off the bus bars in the panel will be de energized making it safer to remove and install Keep in mine the power is still on at the main breaker terminals ! then the breakers install feet first then snap into the bus bars.... I Really hope this helps and Please Be CAREFULL

My es300 electric range is tripping the breaker switch when I have more than one top element on and the oven. A few months ago the breaker switch started to trip when we had more than two elements on top...

Hello Happydude,

I understand that you are having a problem with your electric range. You state that as you turn more elements on the stovee on (ie. the burners and oven) the breaker will trip. Have you had any service done to the range before the problem started occuring?

This sounds like you have a problem with your breaker. As a breaker is tripped it will get weak as many times as your breaker has tripped I would replace it. You also need to verify that you are using atleast a 50 amp breaker. You will need to purchase the same type of breaker as you have (ie. Cuttler Hammer, GE, Square D, etc.). You will need a two pole 50 amp breaker. Follow the below dirrections to change the breaker.

1. Turn off the main breaker.
2. Verify that all electicity is off by checking electric in the house of building (everything should be off, not working)
3. Remove cover panel screws
4.. Lossen the screws on the two wires that are attached to the breaker
5. Remove the wires
6. Remove the breaker
7. Install the new breaker
8. Insert one wire under each screw
9. Reinstall cover panel
10. Turn main breaker on
11. Turn on oven breaker

Once the oven breaker is on check to see if all elements and oven will work at the same time. If the breaker trips. We will have to walk thru some more trouble shooting steps. However, I do believe that this will solve your problem.

Thank you for chossing please post any other questions that you may have about you appliances

Have an excel 5th wheel GFCI circuit breaker that popped and won't re-set. CBs are Cutlter-Hammer BR120 that I can get at Lowes. What ara the steps to remove and replace?

It should be a simple process. Make sure that all power is off to the panel and wear safety glasses. Now simply open the panel and take out the dead front that is protecting the inside of the panel. Remove the "hot" from the bad circuit breaker. The GFI breaker has a wire going to the neutral bar. You need to remove it. Then remove the breaker by pulling it out. To install simply reverse the above

Why is my main breaker switch getting hot tot he touch?

Sounds like you're pulling to much current (amps), thats whats causing it to heat up. If its too hot to hold your hand to you have a serious prolem!! The breaker should be tripping and if its not it can cause damage to the insulation on the wire, and could cause a fire or other problems... You can get a clamp on amp meter to check the amperage or call an eletrician ASAP

I have a trilliant square D breaker box and I need to change a breaker in it. My electrician told me that once I had everything shut off and disconnected that it should pop right out but I can't get the...

if it's a bolt-on you will see the bolts on the outside of it. if it's a plug-in, sometimes they can be tricky to remove. you wanna pull out towards the inside of the breaker then slide the breaker towards the center and it will pop out then. definately don't need a special tool.

My breaker is conected to a hot tub. tub was working fine in auto mode. Turned on jets and breaker tripped. will not reset can you help me

I am assuming this is a GFCI circuit breaker? If it is it will have a "test" button on the breaker. When you say "jets" i'm assuming you mean when you turn on the blower to make the air bubbles? It could be you have a problem with the blower motor. When you start the blower, it trips the breaker. Be sure the blower is in off position when you reset the breaker. The most common fault though on a spa/hot tub is with the heater. If the element goes bad, and current flows to ground, it will trip the GFCI breaker. Again try and turn all functions off. Reset breaker, and then turn on one at a time till the breaker trips. First the pump, then the heat, then the blower.

Breaker is tripping off every 20 min i know amp are right plz adviced me how to fix

need to know which breaker- house ele. panel breaker, which should be a min. of 50 amps,or the element breaker located inside either the upper or lower cover. If it is the element breaker/reset switch, this can be changed with great ease. Turn the power off and the ele. panel, check with a voltage meter to make certain power is off at the unit, loosen or remove the wires- making sure as to location of wiring, remove the switch and replace, reconnect wires, turn breaker back on,and you should be ready to go, This is assuming you have a 50 amp breaker in the electricial panel.
